This was a comprehension exercise for a middle ability set. Written for KS4 AQA B1 - The impact of change. This is a real news story based on real research. Students have to read the text, answer questions, then write a letter to the government explaining why the researcher's work is important.

This is a group activity. Each pdf file contains a large diagram of the carbon cycle spread across 48 pages. The students assemble the pages into a large diagram (6x8 A4 sheets, approx 1.8 m x 1.7 m). The students then use the diagram to answer the question sheet. Used in AQA B1 Energy in biomass

This is a scenario for KS4 students to learn about epidemics, pandemics and the spread of disease through a population. The students make decisions which affect the number of people who live or die during an outbreak of avian flu in the UK. Promotes good discussion amongst the students as to their choices. This is a lesson on variation. It involves an activity where the class are split into groups, each one getting a feature of their classmates to measure. They then produce a graph of the their results. The graphs can be compared and types of continuous and discontinuous variation discussed. Resources needed: Tape measures, meter rulers and graph paper. Several printouts of the experiment sheet will also be needed.
