New Curriculum KS1 Whole Class Writing Assessment Sheet
A really useful class assessment sheet for the New Curriculum. This sheet lists all of the Y1, Y2 and Y3 aims for the 2014 English (writing) Curriculum so you can record coverage and achievement and identify gaps (Y3 aims have been included for children exceeding the statutory requirements for KS1). There is a separate sheet for each of the writing strands to make assessment clear and focused. Having the objectives for the range of year groups on one document enables mixed aged assessment easier and allows for sheets to be used over a 2 year period to track children's progress.
For a small fee I have interactive spreadsheet versions available for Reading, Writing and Mathematics for the new curriculum. The spreadsheet tool will automatically calculate the percentage of year group expectations that each child has attained. Teachers can then make a judgment on the strength that each child is working within age related expectations.
KS1 Group Writing Assessment
I made these sheets to provide an overview of the assessment of the children's writing in my class. It is a progressive and levelled assessment based on APP. This makes assessment at the end of term/year much easier and provides an ongoing overview of progress.
I have made sheets for maths also.
Phonics Screening Practice - Pseudo (fake/nonsense) words - Alien Resource Pack
Save yourself HOURS of work with this lovely interactive resource pack providing practice materials for the pseudo words that children will encounter during the year one phonics screening check.
The pack contains 2 colourful PowerPoint presentations, 2 sets of printable flash cards, a lesson plan and an activity sheet. The resources would provide a numerous lesson and can be used year on year.
The pack focuses solely on the pseudo words as in my experience, these tend to be the words children find most challenging in the check, even for able readers.
The materials have been carefully prepared following the principles of the Standards and Testing Agency (STA) screening checks, ensuring a broad coverage of sounds including vowel digraphs and common consonant blends.
Illustrations for story boards, puppet making or literacy activities
A set of beautiful illustrations for use in a number of ways within the classroom. Perfect for cutting out and using for story boards, for making puppets or other story telling and literacy activities. Illustrations from a range of popular stories: Handa's Surprise, Mr Gumpy's Outing, Whatever Next!, The Enormouse Turnip, The Little Red Hen, The Papaya who spoke, The Snail and the Whale and The very hungry Caterpillar. These look much nicer and professional than clip art, photocopies or screen shots. Fully editable versions now added!

Phonics Screening Flashcards
A brightly coloured set of 50 flashcards designed to prepare children for the Y1 phonics screening check. The cards are based on the previous years screening checks but are different non words so can be used alongside previous years resources as additional practice. All relevant sounds are incorporated into the words and each flashcard has a different character to capture the interest of the children and get them used to reading non words accurately.
Please note that if you have purchased the 'My Alien Friends' resource, these flashcards will contain duplicates.
Year 1 Phonics Practice PPT Pack - Real and Imaginary Words
A very useful set of 5 PPT presentations to display clearly on the IWB and quickly move through them instead of flipping flashcards. Of course if you do wish to use them as flashcards, you could easily print off the slides.
There is an illustrated 'imaginary creatures' PPT with pseudo words based on previous phonics screening materials. Each word is forst displayed without the sound buttons then with to enable children to try to apply their sound knowledge independently then 'sound out' together as a class/group.
The remaining 4 PPT presentations contain all of the real words that have been used in the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 phonics screening checks. They have been split into section 1 and section 2 as they are in the actual papers.
There are 2 versions of each section, one with sound buttons and the other without. Having the complete variations of sections 1 and 2 and with and without sound buttons offers lots of ways to differentiate between groups of at different times of the year as the new sounds are veing taught.
