I am a passionate business and economics teacher who tries to approach teaching from an interactive style. At times I feel that business and economics can seem a little dry for students and as such they struggle, my resources are designed to spark engagement and make the dull interesting. I am also a member of SLT whole school responsibility for teaching and learning and as such I create lots of different activities and documents that are useful for cross curricular working.

A support document to aid the teaching of Business Education subjects with the focus on supporting the lower end whilst improving/stretching/challenging the top end. I collated 8 strategies into this document in order to raise this as a target within the department. I have mapped out how the resources could be use and how this might enable learners to be challenged in the subject. These are by no means the only strategies to use for this but these are some that I felt were easy to embed whilst having the maximum amount of impact on students. The use of these strategies had a significant impact on the department and results improve significantly. I have removed all branding from the school/department. Please feel free to use as you wish.

There are two different assessment tasks which cover section 2.5. of the Edexcel GCSE Business Studies 9-1. The resources is ideal for use as ongoing assessment, end of topic assessment or homework. Complete with Edexcel standard mark schemes to support the assessment of pupils. The front sheet of the assessment allows for targets to be set by the teacher, student and their peers in an easy to do format. Check out the assessment bundle I have also uploaded as it is cheaper to buy in bulk than 1 at a time.

An interactive approach to the teaching of cashflow forecasting. The idea of the activity is the students engage in a board game where they record inflows and outflows onto a blank cashflow forecast. From there the students look at calculating total inflow, outflow, NCF etc all with support. This is followed up with a Nando’s scale task designed to support and challenge.

A Y10 one hour learning styles and revision session. The idea of the lesson is for learners to assess which style of learner they are (VAK) and to start to develop revision strategies for this. The lesson is an interactive approach to what is traditionally a dull subject with students being tasked with the creation of an organisational structure using paper cups. There is structure for the lower end and additional support in the powerpoint in the form of QR codes. Additional Resources Required: Plastic Cups for stacking Post-it-notes - for starter and progress checks. There are instructions in the notes of each slide on how to do the activities.

Edexcel GCSE Business Studies 9-1 - Theme 1 - Section 1.3 assessment , mark scheme, student notes and feedback builder for self assessment. The idea of the resource is a short mid unit test deigned to test up to breakeven from section 1.3. There are students notes to accompany the test along with a feedback builder. The feedback builder is designed to engage students with their feedback as they build this themselves using green pen. To use the feedback builder: Mark the first 6 questions but DO NOT indicate if it is right or wrong - the students then find and fix their mistakes using their textbooks etc. Mark question 8 - however provide the students at least one question to improve their answer. Mark the final question, however DO NOT provide any feedback just provide a mark for the student.

A course tracker for BTEC Lv 2 Business for students undertaking units 1, 2, 4 and 8. The tracker only needs the names etc section populating with data and this will pull through to the rest of the document. The individual unit sheets then feed through into the course overview which will allow you to closely monitor progress, put in timely intervention and predict student results with accuracy. All grade boundaries/points used are correct as of March 2018. The students would will enable you to build a picture of their learning and as such assess full areas they need to work on to improve.
