What/Who is it for?

What’s included?
This download includes x2 (portrait orientation, pdf) A4 sheets, featuring one ‘February’ word search (page 1). The answers on page 2 clearly show where all words are hidden, displayed in the same layout (as page 1) to promote autonomy whilst providing easy comparison/quick reference.
Who’s it for?
This word search has been designed for pupils the early years, in years one and two, as well as students needing additional learning support. Nouns are illustrated to make the meaning of these words clear to learners - this would also benefit pupils with EAL.
Resource layout
The word search letters are arranged in a x12 by x12 square grid and featuring easy to read ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font.
The February words have been organised into four groups, clearly showing all hidden words below the word search. There are x20 words to find in total.
These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards), vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (backwards, down). Words to find are; card, cold, cosy, dark, gift, winter, chocolates, cupid, flowers, hearts, love, valentine, amethyst, february, second, aquarius, pisces, primroses, irises and violets.
Recommendations
I recommend that learners use a ‘highlighter’ style pen when finding the hidden words as highlighters enable all letters to remain visible once each word has been identified, some letters have been used more than once (for different words) so all letters need to remain visible. This word search may be printed and laminated to be reused.

What’s included?
This download includes x1 portrait orientation pdf to make an ‘Advent Candle Countdown Calendar’ to count down the December days from the 1st to the 24th.
What’s it for?
This countdown has been designed to be used for by an individual/group or class to countdown the days to Christmas together. It has been designed to be made by or with an adult - an adult leading the way with what the steps are and a child/learner helping with these as they are able.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students with additional learning needs. An older, able, pupil may be able to make this ‘with’ or ‘for’ a younger learner in a paired activity, working together.
Resource Details
Everything needed for the finished Advent Candle Countdown Calendar is included on the pdf. There are six main instructions and additional, detailed, information positioned next to the relevant parts to make what to do clearer. The main task is to cut along the red dotted lines to cut the candle shape out and separate the ‘flaps’ which will fold over the image (for each day) to hide it.
Numbers are provided to stick onto these flaps (in order from the base of the candle to the top), or these numbers can be written by hand instead - whatever is preferred/easiest.
Learners will need a pencil (to write their name), a pair of scissors, a glue stick and a small ball of Blue Tac (the size of a small marble) - this piece of Blue Tac will then be made into x24 teeny tiny balls which are used to secure the flaps closed until it is the date to be opened.
Suggestions
This pdf will need to be printed onto white card or it won’t be strong enough to stand up by itself.
Double sided sticky tape might be a better alternative to secure the candle shape together (instead of using the glue stick). Glue/double-sided sticky tape is to be applied to the single purple strip, positioned vertically on the right hand side of the pdf.
Read the six steps carefully before beginning to help make the process as easy as possible.

What’s included?
x6 sheets, portrait orientation, pdf format. x8 images and matching x8 words to sound out and read as well as match to images.
What’s it for?
This 'Phase 2/3‘ picture and word matching set has been designed to be a simple activity to consolidate learning. This set focuses on sounds within Phase 2 AND Phase 3.
This activity is ideal for groups/individuals to be getting on with independently and/or for learners to revisit these sounds with an adult.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for Early Years children who are learning these sounds for the first time, pupils in Year 1 who need some practise/reinforcement of these sounds. This resource is also ideal for learners with additional learning needs.
How to use it?
Each learner sounds out the graphemes printed on the ‘word cards’ then matches these to the and ‘stand up character/picture cards’. There are x8 pictures and word cards to match.
Resource Details…
Each word card has a coloured triangle (top, left). Pink indicates these words are using Phase 2 sounds. Purple indicates that these words use Phase 3 sounds. Red graphemes indicate that these sounds might be more tricky as different people can pronounce these sounds differently. E.g. the ‘er’ in the word ‘cracker’ many people pronounce this as an ‘uh’ or ‘a’ sound. Learners may need support with these (red) graphemes.
ALL images/words featured here have been chose because they CAN be sounded out - the ‘tick’ pictured on the coloured (pink/purple) triangle indicates that these words can be sounded out.
The words included are listed here:
Phase 2 Words
elf
robin
Santa
Phase 3 Words
cracker
tree
Nutcracker
snowman
pudding
