I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

Midpoints and Distance Between Two Points Spiders

Midpoints and Distance Between Two Points Spiders

(0)
Four “spiders”: two on midpoints, two on finding the distance between two points. Midpoints: some questions ask students to find the midpoint, some give the midpoint and one coordinate. Distance: the first spider asks students to find distance (the final question asks students to find a points a given distance from another point). The second gives one point and a length; this could lead to a discussion on Pythagorean triples. Suggested/examples of answers are given where there are multiple options.
Compound Measures Codbreaker

Compound Measures Codbreaker

(0)
This contains questions on speed, density, pressure and population density, with questions getting increasingly challenging as you go through. These sheets seem popular with students and are ideal for working in school or from home.
Density Codbreaker

Density Codbreaker

(0)
Answer the questions, reveal the fish-related joke. You know how these work by now. Ideal for online lessons, homework or in class tasks.
Deriving Algebraic Area Formulae

Deriving Algebraic Area Formulae

(0)
I needed something for deriving formulae and came up with this. There are some that take students through the process by the hand and then four at the end that ask students to go solo (as it were).
Pressure Codbreaker
alutwychealutwyche

Pressure Codbreaker

(0)
Various questions involving pressure, including converting between different measurements of pressure. The joke is related to fish hence the name of the resource. These are ideal for online lessons, homeworks or in class.
Population Density Codbreaker

Population Density Codbreaker

(0)
A fish joke after some population density questions are answered correctly; like a dream come true for many, I’m sure… Ideal for in class, homework or online. As the answers spell out a word or short sentence students know if they are going right or need help.
Arithmetic Sequences Codbreaker

Arithmetic Sequences Codbreaker

(0)
Summing arithmetic sequences and various other things arithmetic sequence related. The usual answer questions then unjumble the letters to reveal a fish joke. Ideal for in class or at home.
Rearranging Formulae Codbreaker

Rearranging Formulae Codbreaker

(0)
Rearrange the formulae and reveal the joke (generous description in fairness). These formulae are not particularly tough to rearrange but should get across the principles of it; the subject only appears once in each case. Ideal for classroom activities (main task or starter/plenary) but I have used them for online lessons and homeworks as well.
What Was The Question? - Indices Edition

What Was The Question? - Indices Edition

(0)
Four screens of four questions involving indices where the final answer is given but parts of the questions are missing where students must fill in the blanks. Some have unique solutions/blanks and some have multiple or infinite solutions/blanks and this should lead to some great reasoning discussions and debates in class. These have been really successful in my classroom; hopefully they will be in yours as well.

What Was The Question? - Compound Measures Special

(0)
Four slides each containing four questions; the answer to each question is the same (and in the middle of the slide) but parts of the question are missing. Students need to find the missing values in the question so that they can get the answer stated. Some questions have single answers, others have multiple answers (I have tried to give algebraic answers where I can) and asking students to generalise answers could be an extension. These have proven popular in class and lead to good reasoning discussions.
Transformations Codbreaker

Transformations Codbreaker

(0)
Perform the transformations of the fish to land on the letters and spell out the punchline to a dodgy fish-related joke. This involves reflection, rotation and translation and would bee ideal for a starter/plenary, main task in class or online or as a homework.
Time Problems Codbreaker

Time Problems Codbreaker

(0)
Solve the problems involving time and find the punchline to the fish-related joke. Useful as a classroom activity, online or as a homework.
Defuse The Bomb - Related Calculations

Defuse The Bomb - Related Calculations

(0)
Use one calculation and place value to answer the other questions; these sheets contain 10 answers for 8 questions so that guesses are avoided but students know that if their answers are in the table then they are likely to be heading in the right direction.
Defuse The Bomb - Simultaneous Equations (Linear)
alutwychealutwyche

Defuse The Bomb - Simultaneous Equations (Linear)

(0)
Three sets of questions where the answers appear on the sheet as well; this allows for the students who are understanding the topic to know that they are because their answers are on the sheet already, leaving the teacher to help those who need it. There are 3 sheets in total of increasing difficulty. I tend to use these at the start of a topic or a starter before moving on to the next stage.

Defuse The Bomb - Solving Simultaneous Equations Graphically

(0)
Students are given a set of lines and have to solve the simultaneous equations; some need to be rearranged as well. I tend to use this as a starter or right at the beginning of a topic as the answers are there allowing students who understand get on and the teacher to help those who require help.
Place Value Differences

Place Value Differences

(0)
Use place value to find how many times larger one digit is from another and then find the difference between them. This idea was floated on Twitter by Dave Taylor (@taylora01) and full credit goes to him for the idea and I hope this does it some justice.
Defuse The Bomb - Inequalities (Regions) 3

Defuse The Bomb - Inequalities (Regions) 3

(0)
This was left over from ages ago and I’ve finally got around to finishing it! Name the inequalities represented on the the graph given the shaded region basically. Answers are on the sheet so that students can just get on unless they are completely stuck.
Negative Numbers (Context) Codbreaker
alutwychealutwyche

Negative Numbers (Context) Codbreaker

(0)
Answer some questions involving negative numbers in context and reveal a joke involving or related to fish. These work well in the classroom as a starter or main task but also online or as a homework. The students seem to enjoy the challenge of discovering the corny joke too!
Inequalities (Regions) Codbreaker
alutwychealutwyche

Inequalities (Regions) Codbreaker

(0)
State the inequalities that bound the shaded region and discover the punchline to the fish-related gag. These seem to work either in a classroom, online or as a homework task, encouraging some competition for those who enjoy it.
