I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

Baking Bad - Season 1 - Ratio and Proportion

(52)
Help desperate Food Tech teacher Billy Black with his cake recipes before he's abducted by aliens. Clearly a play on the TV show, but an exercise in simple proportion using amounts of ingredients for recipes - the calculations get progressively more difficult.

Rounding Codebreakers

(52)
Four codebreakers (each with a different cheesy joke) on rounding starting with nearest whole 1,10,100 etc, then decimal places, then significant figures and finally a mixture of all types. Error in sheet 1 corrected. More codebreaker resources 🔑 Cheesebreakers (Cheese-related joke) Bundle Codbreaker (Fish-related Joke) Bundle Number + Probability Codebreakers GCSE Maths

Homes Under The Hammer - Percentage Change

Using the format of my favourite daytime television programme, can you calculate whether these people have made a profit or loss, and what the percentage of that may be. There is also a question regarding rental income at the end.

Bodmas Cities

Calculate each question using Bodmas/Bidmas, unjumble the letters and find the name of a famous international city!

Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Spiders

(29)
With the new curriculum in mind I did this. Students must use their knowledge of parallel and perpendicular lines to fill in blanks but this could lead to discussions about different ways to write equations of lines etc. Errant negative signs on number 4 corrected (I hope).

Expanding Brackets Spiders

This takes students through expanding a single bracket, factorising a single bracket, expanding two brackets and factorising quadratic expressions. Hopefully this should lead them in manageable steps to factorising quadratics, including a few with the coefficient of x squared being greater than 1. When I find errors I have corrected them...

Circle Theorems Notes To Complete

(20)
These sheets contain sketches of circle theorems and blanks for the students to fill in in their own words. They can then use the notes in a future lesson to fill in the blanks on the 'Fill In The Blanks' sheet. The idea was to save them drawing poor sketches in their books and to write the rules in their own words.

Completing The Square - Codebreaker

(19)
Solve the quadratic equations by completing the square to find the punchline to a (pretty average) joke. My Year 12s liked it as a quick reminder though! Some involve rearranging first and they aren't too difficult - I will use them with Year 11 too.

Batman's Bearings

(19)
This is designed to reinforce the bearings of North, South, East and West as well as Morth East, South East, South West, North West, plus bring in a little scale. Describe Batman's journey to collect all the criminals.

The Walking Dead - Season 1 - Congruence and Similarity

(18)
Decide which buildings are free from zombies (shufflers and nibblers) by using knowledge of congruence and similarity to help Deputy Nick Crimes. The PowerPoint has basic animations (the answers basically) as it was exported from Notebook, but I've no doubt you can add some if you like. There's a worksheet if the students need it.
