I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

This was an idea I had in on the way to work one morning - Clive makes mistakes on his homework and you need to correct them, explaining the mistake he's made in each case. I intend to use this as a plenary or starter to check learning etc. They should create discussion too. There are 5 different mistakes to correct.

Clumsy Clive On Equations Of Lines

(3)
Clive has two homeworks to do on equations of lines but as usual he has made mistakes that need correcting and explaining so that he never makes those mistakes again. This is designed to create discussion and the second one is more challenging than the first.

Park Design - Locus

This was my attempt to get a worksheet that incorporates all the basic loci: perpendicular bisector, angle bisector, from a point and shading a region. You could add stuff if you like, but I ran out of room for the instructions, hence just the 4 tasks. The answers are rough based on the ones I did with pencil and compass.

Perfect Face - Symmetry and Reflection

(3)
A fairly basic set of tasks plus a picture of who scientists say has a 'perfect face'. A couple of tougher reflections of snowflakes at the end, plus a dodgy picture of me (early in the morning)! Feel free to delete the final picture or replace with one of you.
Clumsy Clive On Substitution

Clumsy Clive On Substitution

(3)
Clive is tackling a bit of substitution but making mistakes again. Your students' task is to help Clive sort out his errors and explain to him what he's done so that he doesn't make the same mistakes in the future. Ideal for starter or plenaries and encourages discussion.

Clumsy Clive On Simplifying Expressions

(3)
Clive is having a go at simplifying expressions, without complete success. Your task (or more accurately, your class' task) is to help Clive correct his homework and explain where he's gone wrong. Good for starters or plenaries and encourages discussion.

Defuse The Bomb - Substitution

(6)
The usual ‘answer the questions and defuse the bomb’ story, this time involving substitution. Two worksheets, the second one being more difficult than the first.

Calculate these proportional relationships involving Superman and his proximity to kryptonite as well as his rating in the criminal underworld. An attempt to liven up proportion with my Year 11s.

Simultaneous Equations Codebreakers

Simultaneous Equations Codebreakers

(2)
Solve the simultaneous equations to reveal the punchline to a lame joke in both cases. The equations on codebreaker 1 are all designed to be solved by elimination; the equations on codebreaker 2 are to be done by substitution.

Easter Bunny Distance-Time Graphs

There are four activities. The first is reading from a distance-time graph of one of EB’s deliveries. The ere are two sets of information where you must draw the distance-time graph. The final activity is where students make their own journey then graph it. I have also put a link to a clip from YouTube of ‘Rise of the Guardians’.

KS3 Maths: forming and solving equations worksheet

Forming and solving equations in a functional way. How Many MP4 Players In A Box? - Equations. Having really struggled with a class over solving equations I came up with this idea of finding out how many MP4 players are in a box. It's an attempt to make solving equations more accessible, including multiplying out brackets.
Angle Properties

Angle Properties

(2)
This worksheet is an attempt to get students comfortable with algebra, angles and proof. This starts with angles around a point and on a line and asks students to write down any relationships between angles. We then move on to polygons (including triangles) and look for relationships. The next stage is parallel lines and their angle properties, asking studetns to write angles in terms of another angle. Finally we have circle theorems and some simultaneous equations moving on to a couple of proofs. This should generate discussion and is designed to do so, especially the parts involving algebra plus the need to explain the angle property used in each case.

Types of Non-Linear Function

I needed something for students to plot quadratic, cubic and reciprocal functions on that wouldn't mean that half the lesson is taken up with drawing axes. I added exponential functions at the end as an extension. It literally does what it says on the tin stopping short of circles, and hopefully some might be able to draw conclusions from the positions of the functions.

KS3 - Plumbing Accounts - Algebra Worksheet

This worksheet activity is designed to be used as a simple introduction to rearranging formulae in algebra, but getting students to calculate using the formula initially before rearranging it to work backwards using inverse operations.
