I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

Bar and Pie Chart Codebreakers

Bar and Pie Chart Codebreakers

(3)
Three codebreakers on relatively straightforward statistical graphs/charts. The jokes are the usual lame stuff but might raise a smirk, you never know. Two are on bar charts and one on pie charts and none will take long but I am planning to use them as starters/plenaries. Errors corrected on the “Bar Charts and Averages” one.

Perfect Face - Symmetry and Reflection

(3)
A fairly basic set of tasks plus a picture of who scientists say has a 'perfect face'. A couple of tougher reflections of snowflakes at the end, plus a dodgy picture of me (early in the morning)! Feel free to delete the final picture or replace with one of you.

Easter Bunny Distance-Time Graphs

(3)
There are four activities. The first is reading from a distance-time graph of one of EB’s deliveries. The ere are two sets of information where you must draw the distance-time graph. The final activity is where students make their own journey then graph it. I have also put a link to a clip from YouTube of ‘Rise of the Guardians’.

Santa's Algebraic Elves

(9)
A little known fact about Santa's helpers the elves is that they are very keen mathematicians. They have written down various bits of information required by Santa in algebra. Help Santa sort it all out. Contains simplifying expressions, solving equations, expanding and factorising and co-ordinates on graphs.

Bargain Hunt Ratio

(8)
A themed episode of Bargain Hunt and some ratio problems to solve as a result. Some worded questions for students to pick the bones out of.

QR Code Puzzle 5 - Addition and Subtraction

(7)
Answer the questions, colour in the answers that are even, leave blank the answers that are odd, use your Smartphone to scan the resultant QR code to get a link to Feist and the cast of Sesame Street singing '1,2,3,4'. My lot(s) love it!
I Think of a Number...

I Think of a Number...

(5)
This is an attempt to relate algebraic questions that children struggle with to worded questions they can all do. It is designed to start you off, building up from 'I think of a number' to a full blown linear equation.

Simultaneous Equations - McDonald's Style

(33)
Calculate how much each person must pay based on their orders at McDonald's. The inspiration came from mrslack_maths and his resource linked here: https://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/McDonalds-Simultaneous-Equations-6406906/ which is very nice so go and have a look at that as well!

Calculus Spiders

This covers basic differentiation, finding gradients at given x values but could be used to introduce integration plus moves on to negative and fractional powers of x. Could be used at Core 1 (or whatever they are going to call it when it changes) and with the new GCSE.

I wanted something mathematical for the last lesson of term so came up with this. There are two versions, foundation and higher, so take your pick.

Barbie and Ken's Rearranging Formulae

(13)
Help rearrange Barbie and Ken’s ornamental algebra around their penthouse. I&'d like to thank the person who was brave enough to give me one star but not brave enough to tell me why so that I can try to rectify it.
GSCE Maths: Surds Worksheet

GSCE Maths: Surds Worksheet

(10)
This sheet starts off with some examples and questions about surds - pretty easy ones to be honest. There is a surds 'joke' at the end to complete. This was an attempt to make surds a little more interesting and to show just how easy they really are.
