I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

Building Blocks - Solving Quadratics

(6)
This covers from simple finding pairs of integers up to completing the square, including completing the square and the quadratic formula. I will put solving graphically on a another one as there wasn’t room here.

Codebreakers - Differentiation (GCSE Content)

(3)
From basic differentiation to finding gradients and turning points to displacement, velocity and acceleration; each one gives the answer to a joke. The "Gradients and Turning Points" one has the words mixed up as I reckon a few will be able to guess the punchline. A couple of typos corrected.

I Need A Loan!

(2)
This leads on from 'Misleading Graphs' where the students have to draw a graph in an effort to convince a Small Business Manager to give them a loan.
Inequalities and Number Lines Codebreaker

Inequalities and Number Lines Codebreaker

(0)
The usual thing: answer the questions, reveal the punchline. This gives inequalities and asks students to find the representation on the number lines. The letters are jumbled up to stop them guessing the answer.

Finding Nemo and Dory Bearings

(2)
I came up with this activity whilst toasting crumpets for breakfast over half term. This gives the opportunity to measure/read bearings accurately and find the position of something given a bearing from two points. Answers are the best I could do from my computer screen!
Linear Graphs Spiders

Linear Graphs Spiders

(2)
This allows students to use their knowledge of y=mx+c. There are five different spiders of increasing difficulty ranging from being given the gradient and y-int then forming the equation, to being given one of those pieces of information and a point on the line to being given two points on the line. Discussion could arise over how to write the equations.
Reverse and Repeated Percentage Change Codbreakers

Reverse and Repeated Percentage Change Codbreakers

(3)
Two fish jokes to discover: one on reverse percentages (finding an oroginal amount) and one on repeated percentage change (compound interest etc). These work nicely in the classroom, in online lessons and as homework tasks. Students are reassured when words start to appear allowing the teacher to help those who require it.
Clumsy Clive On Differentiation

Clumsy Clive On Differentiation

(3)
Clive is tackling a new topic on the GCSE curriculum, but predicatably is struggling. Four questions getting increasingly difficult requiring you to check as Clive has made mistakes. These will hopefully generate discussion in class.
Trigonometry In Non-Right-Angled Triangles Matching

Trigonometry In Non-Right-Angled Triangles Matching

(2)
Five matching activities involving the Sine Rule, Cosine Rule and finding the area of a triangle using trigonometry. These are designed to show learning/demonstrate understanding whether as a starter or plenary but could be used all together as a lesson's main activity.

Advent Calendar - Solving Linear Equations

(4)
This is a Christmas-themed idea I came up with where students answer the questions (the solutions are 1 to 24) and each answer links to a word; put the words in numerical order and an entire joke is revealed! My students are actually enjoying them quite a lot.
QR Code Puzzle 16 - Area and Perimeter

QR Code Puzzle 16 - Area and Perimeter

(3)
Colour in question number if it's even, leave blank if it&'s odd - the usual caper. It covers rectangles up to circles with parallelograms and trapeziums in between. Links to Then Jericho&';s timeless classic 'Big Area' on YouTube.
Erica's Errors On Algebraic Methods 2

Erica's Errors On Algebraic Methods 2

(4)
Erica tackles partial fractions, algebraic long division and simplifying algebraic fractions in this homework. This goes predicatably wrong and she requires your help to correct and explain what she’s done incorrectly. This should create discussion regarding different methods.
QR Code Puzzle 24 - Ratio

QR Code Puzzle 24 - Ratio

(2)
The usual story that links to Cher's 'Believe' (I couldn&'t find a song containing the word 'Share' so you&';ll have to put up with this pun). All worded ratio questions.
