I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

Equations Cinema

Equations Cinema

(1)
This is a discussion activity for use with lower ability classes and solving equations. Funnily enough, this sort of thing does normally happen to me, although not at a cinema showing equations films!
A Natural Sequence

A Natural Sequence

(3)
This is designed to add some "real life" and to enhance to a sequences lesson. It links into the golden ratio and has a link to a YouTube video on the subject. There are invitations to calculate the golden ratio and to draw the Fibonacci spiral.
Converting Units of Area and Volume Codbreaker

Converting Units of Area and Volume Codbreaker

(3)
Convert the area and volume units to reveal the punchline to a joke related to the ocean. These work in the classroom, online or as a homework and students seem to enjoy them, especially the competitive side of discovering the punchline first.
Equations of Circles Matching

Equations of Circles Matching

(1)
This is designed as a plenary or starter and should encourage discussion regarding the equation of a circle and it's centre/radius. Four different matching activities to try out of increasing difficulty.
Crack The Safe - 3D Pythagoras and Trigonometry

Crack The Safe - 3D Pythagoras and Trigonometry

(2)
Six questions with ten possible answers - students can self-mark these (if their answer is not an option they need to check their working). This involves 3D Pythagoras and trigonometry with a cuboid, a triangular prism and a square based pyramid. I would use this as a starter or plenary.
Constructions

Constructions

(1)
This (hopefully) does what it says on the tin: I wanted some sheets for students to construct triangles and bisectors so produced this. The constructions all fit in the boxes provided as long as you print them out on A4 paper. We start with constructing triangles, then bisectors, then a rhombus and a perpendicular line from a given point before finishing with couple of challenges (Yin-yang, incircle and circumcircle). Like I say, it is not designed to be flashy just practical.
What Was The Question? - Fractions, Decimals, Percentages Special

What Was The Question? - Fractions, Decimals, Percentages Special

(4)
Four sets of four problems where students have the answer but there are blanks in the questions which require filling in. This is designed to create discussion in class and hopefully provided natural differentiation (find the general solution where possible compared to finding a single solution). I will be using these as starters or plenaries as I believe they will develop deeper understanding of topics, but feel free to use them as you like (you will as you don’t need me to hold your hand). Typos corrected (hopefully).
Bar Graph Problems

Bar Graph Problems

(2)
I just wanted something that covers bar graph; this covers “normal”, comparative and composite bar graphs and is designed, in two cases at least, to create discussion.
Plotting Graphs Given Their Equations

Plotting Graphs Given Their Equations

(1)
This was designed to revise plotting linear graphs from an equation before moving on to non-linear (quadratic, cubic, reciprocal and exponential). I have deliberately changed scales to suit each graph/equation so that they aren’t just -5 to 5 on x and y axes, going up in 1s; hopefully this makes the students concentrate and think a bit more!
The Best Deal

The Best Deal

(2)
This is an exercise in finding the best way of buying what a customer wants given four different “deals” on pricing. You can buy more than required but not less which should add an extra bit of challenge. Workings are essential and I have provided answers on a separate slide each time. There are five to work out and this should lead to nice mathematical discussions. I have also put this in a format that could be used easily online if this is desirable.
X-Men Venn Diagrams

X-Men Venn Diagrams

(5)
Moving quite quickly from placing data into Venn diagrams up to Venn diagram notation using common enemies of X-Men and Wolverine. Error corrected!
Co-ordinate Relationships
alutwychealutwyche

Co-ordinate Relationships

(3)
This is designed as a lead into equations of lines and links to previous work on function machines/sequences. Five sets of co-ordinates to find the relationship between x and y plus to fill in some blanks.
Solving Equations Matching
alutwychealutwyche

Solving Equations Matching

(2)
Four matching activities where students must join the equations that match the central cloud but also solve the ones that don't match. The four tasks get increasingly difficult. This is designed as a starter, plenary or discussion type exercise where you can pick a particular matching to suit your class. At it's most challenging there are fractions involved.
Speed-Time Graphs Codebreaker
alutwychealutwyche

Speed-Time Graphs Codebreaker

(1)
The usual stuff: answer the questions, find the punchline to a lame joke. This involves one speed-time graph and questions on acceleration and distance (area under the graph).

QR Code Puzzle 14 - Substitution

(2)
Find the answers, colour in the correct squares then scan to get Madonna’s ‘Substitute For Love’ (the best I could do). QR code generated using qrstuff.com.
