Solving Equations Spiders

Solving Equations Spiders

(1)
This contains 4 solving equations activities of increasing difficulty. This encourages discussion and insists upon students showing their working.
Catch Up Questions - Data

Catch Up Questions - Data

(1)
This is a booklet of 29 worksheets that can be used for either revision, homework or those students who have missed work with each containing a QR code that will scan to a short tutorial video. It is designed to cover the entire GCSE data curriculum. I have tried to order the sheets in a logical way, although not necessarily in "difficulty" order, the topics are grouped. Answers are provided.

Catch Up Questions - Number

(1)
This is a booklet of 57 worksheets that can be used for either revision, homework or those students who have missed work with each containing a QR code that will scan to a short tutorial video. It is designed to cover the entire GCSE number curriculum. I have tried to order the sheets in a logical way, although not necessarily in "difficulty" order, the topics are grouped. Answers are provided.
Sequences Spiders

Sequences Spiders

(1)
This set of 4 "spiders" takes students through generating a sequence from an nth term, to finding the nth term of an arithmetic sequence to working with some fairly straight forward quadratic and cubic sequences. The concept is designed to encourage discussion.
Ratio Matching

Ratio Matching

(1)
Simply: match the ratios that simplify to the ratio in the centre. I have used units of measurement on each matching activity as well. There are four to do and the answers make students simplify the ratios that don't match.
QR Code Defuse The Bomb Activities - Core 1 and 2

QR Code Defuse The Bomb Activities - Core 1 and 2

(1)
I use these as a break from the "past paper drudgery" in the run up to exams. The questions are taken from past papers (amended in some cases). The idea is to answer each question fully then scan the QR code linked to the correct answer to form a code. Each QR code (correct or incorrect to avoid "cheating") scans to a song or artist that contains a number or colour, so this generates the code.

Team Revision Tasks - Core 1 (Edexcel)

(1)
These are an attempt to break from the monotony of past papers in the run up to exam season. I have taken 2 or 4 (depending on whether they will fit on a page!) questions from past papers and put them on one sheet; I will photocopy onto A3 for students to have a go in groups and discuss. The aims/rules etc are all listed if you wish to follow them and hopefully they all make sense. I have also provided answers.

Catch Up Questions - Geometry

(1)
This is a booklet of over 40 worksheets that can be used for either revision, homework or those students who have missed work with each containing a QR code that will scan to a short tutorial video. It is designed to cover the entire GCSE geometry curriculum. I have tried to order the sheets in a logical way, although not necessarily in "difficulty" order, the topics are grouped. Answers are provided.
Transformations Spiders
alutwychealutwyche

Transformations Spiders

(1)
Three spiders on transformations (both describing and drawing) that getting increasingly challenging from spider 1 to spider 3. Spider 1 contains reflections in the x and y axes, translations and rotations about the origin. Spider 2 contains reflections in horizontal and vertical lines (x=n or y=n), rotations around points away from the origin, and an enlargement. Spider 3 contains reflections in diagonal lines (y=-x), roattions away from the origin and fractional and negative enlargements where the centre is not the origin. They should encourage discussion and I hope the diagrams are large enough (they are as large as I can make them).
Clumsy Clive On Vectors

Clumsy Clive On Vectors

(1)
Clive is doing some vectors work this time and is confused once again. Can you check all his answers, correct them and explain where he's gone wrong. He's made some typical mistakes which should get everyone (students and teacher) talking.
Exploding Ratio
alutwychealutwyche

Exploding Ratio

(1)
This aims, through four separate, increasingly difficult sheets, to give students a chance to show that they can share in a given ratio as well as simplify ratios. I have used different units and specified units to be used in most cases meaning that students must convert. Hopefully this will allow students to demonstrate their understanding of the topic and will encourage discussion.
Clumsy Clive Geometry and Data Bundle
alutwychealutwyche

Clumsy Clive Geometry and Data Bundle

(1)
These are all available for free individually but if you don’t have the time then this is for you. Clive makes common mistakes, mistakes you’ll have seen in class. Your students need to find the mistakes, correct them and explain where Clive has gone wrong so that he doesn’t do the same thing again. These activities are designed to create discussion in class and can be used to assess understanding.
Erica's Errors On Integration 4
alutwychealutwyche

Erica's Errors On Integration 4

(1)
Erica is struggling with integrating partial fractions and integrating by parts. Can somebody help her sort it all out? There are only two questions to sort out but they are long ones! This should give students the chance to demonstrate their understanding.
Erica's Errors On Integration 3
alutwychealutwyche

Erica's Errors On Integration 3

(1)
Erica's got another integration homework, this one involving the chain rule in reverse and integration by substitution. Predictably she is struggling and needs your help. This offers students the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding, dicussing the best way to solve a problem.
Erica's Errors On Integration 5
alutwychealutwyche

Erica's Errors On Integration 5

(1)
Erica is struggling with differential equations and regions bounded by two curves. Seriously, she needs some help so please get your students to explain what she has done and correct her homework. This gives students the opportunity to demostrate their understanding.
Erica's Errors - A Level (Year 2 - Pure) Bundle
alutwychealutwyche

Erica's Errors - A Level (Year 2 - Pure) Bundle

(1)
Erica is struggling with many aspects of the A level mathematics course and needs help from your students. What you have here is 17 of her homeworks, each with mistakes in solutions which your students need to find, correct and explain where Erica has gone wrong. These are purely designed to generate discussion and to allow students to demonstrate their understanding, whilst also allowing them to show their own methods of solving problems. These are all based upon the new A level curriculum.
Simplifying Expressions Spiders
alutwychealutwyche

Simplifying Expressions Spiders

(1)
Four maths "spiders" of increasing difficulty designed to make students think a littel. Tne first two allow students to invent their own original expressions which should lead to good discussion in class where students demonstrate the depth of their understanding. This does get on to expanding brackets and simplifying.
Algebraic Fractions Matching
alutwychealutwyche

Algebraic Fractions Matching

(1)
This is designed as a starter/plenary and should encourage discussion in the room. It works through from basic simplifying to add/subtracting to simplifying with quadratics as the numerator and denominator. There are 8 in total.
Partial Fractions Codebreaker 3
alutwychealutwyche

Partial Fractions Codebreaker 3

(1)
The usual terrible joke revealed having dealt with partial fractions with mixed numbers (a remainder) and partial fractions with (x+n)^2 on the denominator.
Equations of Circles Matching
alutwychealutwyche

Equations of Circles Matching

(1)
This is designed as a plenary or starter and should encourage discussion regarding the equation of a circle and it's centre/radius. Four different matching activities to try out of increasing difficulty.
