Adapt to survive - Extremophiles AQA Biology 2016
A presentation and worksheets in this fully resourced lesson to teach about behavioural, functional and structural adaptations. The presentation goes through different types of extremophiles and the habitats they live in. I have included a PDF version of the presentation so you can see more of the file.
For those with older versions of PowerPoint there is a version of the presentation with supported fonts
Also available as part of a bundle.
AQA Biology 2016 - Predator Prey Cycles
A fully resourced lesson on Predator Prey Cycles - linked to the new AQA 2016 syllabus. The lesson contains a graph plotting activity and various other activities on the presentation. Enough for more than one lesson of you can pick the activities that suit you best. I have included 2 version of the PowerPoint for those who have older versions that don't support some of the newer fonts
Cells and Batteries - New AQA 2016 chemistry
A lesson for the new GCSE Chemistry for AQA triple award only. The resource includes a worksheet for a practical using metals and fruit juices to underpin the key-points from the syllabus on what effects the voltage in a simple cell and a presentation to reinforce key ideas. The presentation includes assessment opportunities to test pupils understanding and links in the topic to previous parts of the syllabus. The are two versions of the presentation - one that is suitable for those who have versions of PowerPoint that don't support some fonts
Evolutionary Trees
Various resources that I have used over the course of 2 lessons to teach pupils about evolutionary trees to a KS4 mixed ability group.
The poster needs to be printed on A3 if possible
There is a presentation on how to read / interpret evolutionary trees plus some past paper questions. The presentation is in two different formats to prevent problems for those with older versions of PowerPoint
Electrical Charge and Current
A presentation and calculations to teach about electrical charge and current. There are various assessment questions as part of the PowerPoint
AQA Trilogy / Chemistry - Collision Theory
A fully resourced lesson including answers to introduce collision theory for the rate and extent of chemical change unit. Lesson 1 for this unit
Heart Disease
KS4 lesson on heart disease. I Talk through the presentation, and show the hyperlinked videos. The storyboard can then be given as a task to create a summary. The pics from the story board are on a separate presentation that can be used to check pupils recall / understanding of the main presentation if you think it is needed, I have also included an alternative version of the presentation for those who have older versions of PowerPoint that don't support some of the newer fonts
Revision clocks - Chemistry paper 2 - AQA Trilogy
The last 5 units for the Chemistry Paper 2 split into sub sections. Pupils are to spend no more than 4/5 minutes on each section to try and ensure that the whole of a topic is covered.
Fossil formation AQA Biology
A presentation and worksheet to teach how fossils form. There are also some past paper questions that have been edited to make them more printer friendly. The presentation also includes a quick quiz for a mini plenary. I have also included an alternative version of the presentation for those who do not have an update of windows that supports some fonts
Catalysts lesson and experiment
A fully resourced lesson on catalysts with questions on a worksheet for pupils to answer, linked to the presentation and an experiment to carry out
Circuit diagrams
A lesson following on from the introduction of circuit symbol and simple circuits. Pupils are asked to interpret circuit diagrams and build given parallel and series circuits. The plenary tests understanding of the difference between parallel and series circuit diagrams
AQA Trilogy / Chemistry - Extraction of metals using carbon
A presentation with linked practical to teach pupils about the extraction of metals using reduction with carbon
Electricity - Measuring voltage
A presentation with accompanying resources to teach about voltage in series and parallel circuit
Respiration v ventilation
A resource to teach breathing / ventilation.
Also a comparison of gases in inhaled and exhaled air with a table.
Comparison of the bell jar lung model
A video link is included if the embedded video doesn't work
For those with older version of PowerPoint I have included a version with supported fonts
Assessment questions are included on the PowerPoint
AQA Trilogy / Chemistry - Metal and non-metal ions
A presentation and worksheet to take pupils through the process of ion formation in both metals and non-metals
Exo amd Endo reactions lesson
A presentation and resources for a lesson on Exo and Endothermic reactions, including a worksheet for a practical activity. I also buy some visual aides from the internet such as hand warmers and self heating cans. There are lots of sites where these are available.
AQA Trilogy / Chemistry - Metals and acid
A fully resourced lesson with practical and worksheet. Pupils are to deduce the reactivity of metals by comparison of their reactions in acid and link this to previous lessons on reactions of metals with water and oxygen.
AQA Chemistry / Trilogy - Displacement reactions and ionic equations
A presentation to go with a practical activity to guide pupils through writing balanced symbol equations and half equations in order to identify oxidised or reduced chemical species in a displacement reaction
AQA Trilogy / Chemistry - Acids and bases
A presentation and worksheet guiding pupils through identification of the ions responsible for acidity and alkalinity and the ionic equations to describe the formation of water during neutralisation reactions. Neutralisation equations are also consider along with salt formation
AQA Chemistry / Trilogy - Metals and Water
A presentation and worksheet to take pupils through the idea that metals react differently with water and to relate the reactivity of metals to their tendency to form positive ions
