A lesson that enables pupils to put a whole lot of information onto a single sheet. Best printed in A3. Pupils look at the global distribution of tropical storms, rainforests & deserts. They analyse the climate and add case study location. Pupils add a piece of tracing paper onto the map (best stuck down with blu-tac) to locate & plot rainforests. This is a basic GIS.

A lesson that teaches students about the consequences of climate change. Links well to other areas studied (Great Barrier Reef & drought in India). I’ve also included a blah blah question that allows pupils to demonstrate their understanding even when they don’t quite fully understand everything that is being asked of them.

A superb game that allows pupils to learn about the issues related to population in a fun, creative and engaging way. This was used as part of our KS3 SOW. Some coloured paperclips will be needed for the pupils to play this.

An A3 sheet that I used as a pre examination handout. It covers the basics of the content for paper 3 (skills). This was copied in colour, laminated and provided to pupils as they were waiting to sit their exam. It could easily be used for any geography exam board or simply used as a skills revision sheet.

A work sheet (ideally printed in A3) that allows pupils to breakdown the correct way to answer specific command words in questions. Designed for all levels and ages of pupils, but with a specific GCSE focus.

A worksheet to use with pupils post assessment. Students firstly create a percentage from their test score. They then collect data from their peers and fill in the table. Once completed, they order the data and calculate the mean & median. They then plot the data as a stack graph or double bar graph (boys & girls). To finish, they complete the target setting sheet. Data can be analysed once all elements have been done. Can be used with all year groups, but works well for KS3.

A simple lesson that covers the environmental impacts of modifying the landscape for food in the UK. The GCSE links really tests their understanding. Covers most new 1-9 gcse geography specifications.

A simple, but effective lesson linked to gaining an understanding of human & physical geography. Pupils will need to bring in magazines, newspaers or old books to cut up. I got pupils to cut cirles out of A2 coloured paper in order to create the 2 venn circles needed for the task. They then create a venn diagram. A super lesson that is practical & fun.

A great lesson about the water cycle. Students look at key terminology & rhyming words (which help them to create their poem). They then create a piece of poetry. Mark scheme included (that the pupils create). These just need printing & cutting up. Saves a lot of time.

They move on to predicting what things might be like in the future. There is a success criteria so pupils can either self or peer assess their work. Great for KS3, 4 and can easily be broken up for primary pupils. A lesson that truly gets kids thinking and is very simple to deliver.

Resources for teaching about the Hoover Dam. Students use the links in the powerpoint to make notes on the info sheet. They then create a short presentation (extended writing). It is very simple, but very effective.

A great lesson that enables students to create a tracing paper (GIS) overlay that identifies areas that are prone to flooding. It works bes by photocopying onto tracing paper. This can easily be done by changing the settings on the photocopier.
