KS3 geography. Begins with the odd one out task and discuss the answer. Next cover learning objectives, move onto the images and facts. Students then watch the clips and use the attached thinking hats resource to write about mumbai . The build on key words using the facts slides (these can be printed out). Finally there is a mumbai postcard activity to apply knowledge which can be carried over or completed for homework.

Share the facts with students, main activity is for students to use the worksheet to write about what the different people say about India’s development. There are examples of WAGOLL for the main task and the lesson then develop into a structured assessment with the success criteria explained. It also includes some printable resources to be provided for use as research on the assessment tasks.

A heads and tails matching task to allow students to apply understanding of the different landscapes and who/why people live there. Also has an extension task that could be adapted as a homework.

A complete lesson with activities and video clips to introduce ethics. Used for year 9 RE, the lesson introduces the idea of utilitarian ethics through a funny starter clip with questions to discuss. Then puts in context the big picture of the learning. Following this is another clip which applies utilitarian ethics to a scenario. Students then work through some questions to lead into how we know right from wrong. The next activity looks at 4 ethical issues for students to reflect on. Finishing with a summary report to apply their knowledge and understanding. This could also be set as a homework.

2 complete lessons in the powerpoint format, together with a linking chart worksheet to assess prior knowledge. Useful for Year 7 to assess prior learning and understanding. Leads to discussion and activities about beliefs covering attainment targets 1 and 2. Following on from this is a lesson about god, introduces the ideas of atheism and agnostics. Includes clips and activities to explore reasons for belief.

KS3 RE, Includes discussion as a starter, background facts and information, a learning from activity focusing on the clothes we wear. Leads into a student research task (print out slides 5-12) for students alone or in groups to find out about and answer key questions on the 5 K’s. These questions are leveled in detail and difficulty, so easy to differentiate. Finishes with a task on Re-designing the school uniform. Lots of flexibility to adapt this lesson for group work too.

KS3 History. Includes basic information about the slave trade, it’s causes and the route. Would suit a Low ability group and has some simple activities.

KS3 RE, includes information about the Sikh langar with a video clip for pupils to reflect on and discuss. Also explains how Sikh’s should act and behave, following this there is a linking task for pupils to reflect on examples of how they help others in life. Easy to differentiate, scope for discussion and reflection work.

A complete powerpoint lesson with a clip about the 4 sights. Starter, main learning activities and plenary. Resources included with which students create a storyboard about the Buddha’s life.

A complete lesson with powerpoint and worksheet to teach about the 4 noble truths. Links to learning from religion and has the 3 part lesson structure with the opportunity to differentiate using the attached worksheet.

A complete lesson and resource. This follows on from the 4 noble truths lesson. Could be used over 2 lessons. There is lots of content and opportunity to discuss the steps and apply them to real life. Students match the steps to show understanding of what each one is about for Buddhists. There is an extended writing task where students apply their understanding of one of the steps. Here i provide a model answer and give a target of 15 lines of writing. Finally there is a homework task where students must create a book of happiness, like those little books you see near the tills at waterstones.

I used this with Y9 students as lesson 2 of a unit on ethics. It is a real life story of conjoined twins who were separated. it includes a whole lesson and resources that need to be printed to accompany the activities on the slides. It focuses on religious views and should gradually reveal the full story of what happened. it has web links to the press coverage of the story which can be adapted and used as homework or differentiated up to create research.

Used with Y9 students as lesson 3/4 of the ethics unit. This introduces the definition of capital punishment, getting students to think about crime and punishment in general. It leads to some statistics from amnesty and a sorting task or the arguments for and against the death penalty.

These resources are for a double lesson. It is suitable for Y9 students considering opting for GCSE geography. It includes learning outcomes and stretch and challenge tasks. There are clips about the problems of piracy and activities that encourage geographical thinking, as well as opportunities to develop map skills and ask geographical questions.

Geography year 8. lesson 2 of the amazing places unit. Contains clips and visuals about Svalbard. Students make notes and discuss/locate. It finishes with a mini assessment to apply learning.

Geography Year 8 students. Amazing world places. This lesson introduces a cluster of lessons which are numbered and should be taught as one unit over a half term. This introduction lesson shares amazing places and their types of geography a blank world map as an activity to get students locating some famous amazing places. There is an extended writing task where students describe and explain their amazing place.
