A lesson for the new spec GCSE History (Edexcel). It covers the Puritan beliefs and how they opposed Elizabeth's compromise. It would also be useful for a study on the Tudors in general, such as at KS3.
I thank any and all contributors. I have uploaded this resource for free as I feel that we should work together rather than profit from each other, for the sake of the children we teach. If you should modify or share this lesson please do so for free too.
Here is a lesson looking at Sir Francis Drake's adventures around the world
A lesson on explorers and sailors during the Age of Discovery during the Tudor and Stuart eras
Covers:
Natives
Journey
America
Exploration
I have used some resources from other people in the making of my lessons and thank any and all contributors. I will not charge for resources as all teachers should work together for the benefit of our students.
**The actual download is in the correct order. Preview is out of sequence due to some issue with TES***.
This lesson is intended for Year 7, but could be modified for older students.
It is my take on 'je suis le roi'. Students read the cartoon, update the map and write about what happened. When it is done, they get the next cartoon etc.
They should work in small groups 2-4 students per group.
Students can then see the spread of Norman influence as on the map.
WARNING it takes ages to make due to cutting out the tokens, but once you have made it you just top them up when needed every year. I would advise keeping tokens in packs (envelopes).
I hope you enjoy it. Please remember that I have shared this for free, please do so too.
In this lesson we look at the key events in the UK (and America) that led to LGBTQ+ rights laws being passed in the UK. For example the Stone Wall Riots and Gays and Lesbian support the miners from 1980s England.
The plenary is taken from another person’s TES resource, but the rest has been built by me.
I hope you find it useful and share freely. I strongly believe lessons should be shared for free to help the next generation of teachers to succeed.
Hi
Here is a 30+ page book of activities, practise questions and planning tools for the Edexcel GCSE History course (new spec). It covers all aspects of the Weimar and Nazi Germany 1919-1939 course…
Now with added pages for propaganda posters.
There are mutliple quizes, exam questions, sample sources and interpretations questions with writing frames and guidance and revision lotus grids. To use a lotus grid students for each of the nine topics on it, try to come up with nine facts, names, key terms or anything quickly.
Note: This is a book of activities, not content. It is assumed that students have been taught the relevant content or have access to the knowledge.
I hope you find it useful. If you buy it you are welcome to print as many copies as you like
Hi

Note: This is a book of activities, not content. It is assumed that students have been taught the relevant content or have access to the knowledge.
I hope you find it useful. If you buy it you are welcome to print as many copies as you like.
Revision board games to help students revise Edexcel GCSE History for the courses:
Germany 1919-39 (Weimar and Nazi Germany)
The History of Medicine medieval to modern
The Cold War and Superpower relations 1941-91
Early Elizabethan England.
I have made these for GCSE History, but the templates could be easily adapted for languages, science or any other subject.
Inspired by ideas I saw on Twitter, but completely made from scratch in Powerpoint. These have been made on A4 size slides so will print out nicely (Battleships works well on A3 too). All of them can be edited and used as templates for further sets of games.
A lesson looking at modern procedures, machinery and practices of the 20th and 21st century. Surgery of different types including cosmetic and the NHS.
This resource is a combination of my own work and resources donated by others. Please respect this and share freely for free. I do not charge for my resources as I feel we should work together, not for profit.
A lesson for the new spec GCSE History (Edexcel). It covers the Catholic beliefs and how they opposed Elizabeth's compromise. It would also be useful for a study on the Tudors in general, such as at KS3 or the Reformation.
I thank any and all contributors. I have uploaded this resource for free as I feel that we should work together rather than profit from each other, for the sake of the children we teach. If you should modify or share this lesson please do so for free too.
***The download is in correct sequence, but the TES site has a bug which means the preview only has issues****
This lesson looks at Hungary under Soviet rule from 1944 and how the secret speech from Khrushchev led to Imre Nagy and in turn the uprising. This was then crushed by the Soviets.
I have used a couple of other Power Points plus my own work to build the content. I thank those who made some of those slides. This is a very content heavy topic so students will likely need the text books to help with the main task.
The main task is a picture strip task. Students stick the strip into the margin and then write about the events adding evidence and explanation.
I hope it is useful. If you use this resource please share it freely for the benefit of others.
This lesson should be set up on tables as a circuit around the room with some props. Make it so that students circumnavigate the classroom.
I hope you enjoy it.
Please if you decide to share and/or modify this lesson do so for free as I have done by creating it.
***TES previews do not work properly, the slides appear out of order, the final download is fine***
This lesson looks at the events of the Cuban Missile Crisis. It is built to follow on from a study of The Bay of Pigs. The main tasks are the video with differentiated worksheet and the talking heads activity. Students will need to space out their heads to make room for the speech bubbles.
It is intended for the Edexcel spec (Hodder book), but would easily adapt for others.
I have made and shared this resource for free. If you modify and/or share it please do so too.
This lesson continues the Tudor era explorers unit. It looks at the colony in Virginia established by the British and the encounters with the Native Americans. It then compares the Disney version of Pocahontas to that of the real story.
It introduces the concept of why interpretations are different.
It has the link for the clip from the film needed.
My lessons are created using copyrighted material and I thank all contributors. My lessons are created for free and shared for free. Please ensure that they stay this way, it is for the benefit of the students we teach.
This is a four team game show/quiz to help students recall key names, dates, events etc.
It needs four buzzers or equivalent.
The 'odd one out' round will reveal four pictures, they are not blank, black slides.
Enjoy
My resources are shared for free, please ensure that they stay that way.
This lesson examines the Aztec culture, the arrival of the Spanish Conquistadors and the ransacking of Tenochtitlan.
It includes an information hunt, video with questions (link provided for youtube) and discussion.
It is intended to sow some seeds of knowledge for Year 7, to aid future GCSE. If you are teaching about Renaissance era explorers you will see I have several other lessons available.
This resource is free to download, as I believe that teachers should share freely for the benefit of the students we teach. Enjoy.
This lesson is focused on the new Reagan administration and the impact it had on the Soviet Union including the infamous Star Wars project.
***If the preview is out of synch it is a TES issue, the final download file is fine.****<
Enjoy.
I have used a few bits from other people and tried to refine them together with some of my own to make a lesson more focused on the new GCSE spec (Edexcel). My thanks to those contributors.
*** If the preview slides are out of sequence, it is a TES issue. The download is in order***
Hi, this lesson looks at Glasnost and Perestroika, what they are and could mean. It considers why Gorbachev is deciding to bring about change. The second half of the lesson is about the Chernoybl disaster and the impact this would have on Soviet policy.
Instructions regarding the videos are in the slides.
Enjoy.
I have chosen to make and share this for free to give back to the teaching community. Please respect this and share for free and freely too. If I have used anybody elses resources as part of this I thank them for their contribution.
This lesson is intended for after a study of the weapons of World War One. Students will look at the main types of defences and what would counter them. Students will then plan their own section of trench with only a limited number of defences. This will force the more able to justify their choices. The game then involves a fun end where they see if they survive attack from their partners.
Enjoy
Please remember that I have chosen to share this resource for free to benefit the students. If you share this or edit it, please share it freely too.
It is 1066 and three men all stand with a claim to the throne of England. Who will rise to take Edward the Confessor's throne. Meet the three in this Rocky inspired lesson. Best used with the music and a bit of 'boxer announcer' style as three contenders stand at the front posing.
Enjoy the three contenders, and information hunt.
This resource is made and shared for free. Please continue to do the same with it, I don't share these for profit.
A lesson looking at attempts to kill Adolf Hitler with a focus on the famous Staffenburg plot and tasking the students with planning their own idea, but you go around and point out the holes in the plan to make them refine their thinking.
This lesson can be used at either KS3 or GCSE study.
Enjoy the lesson. It needs a clip from the movie, which if you don't have can be found on youtube.
I made this lesson to be used and shared for free. Please respect this and if you share, share for free.
