A lesson explaining the Spanish attempted invasion during the reign of Elizabeth I in 1588. This lesson is intended for GCSE History (Edexcel) on Early Elizabethan England. It could easily be adapted for other boards or key stages. It covers the battle in several stages and the students move sweets around a map (and eat them). I hope you enjoy it. A lesson for Year 9 that discusses life in Berlin, the Berlin Wall and some of the best escapes that were made during the Cold War. This lesson has an element using Elton John's Nikita, to help students consider life in a divided city. The main task involves reading about then planning your own escape from USSR held Berlin. It works best with some music from The Great Escape. At the end if you have time remaining, the end of the wall is discussed and there is a video to watch.
