B4 Competition and interdependence

GCSE OCR Gateway Science *Specification link *(Grade 9 -1) B4 Competition and interdependence There is a lot of biological concepts to cover in this lesson (my advice would be to do Task 3 (research task) in a separate lesson and finish that lesson with some past exam questions. The biggest mistake teachers make here is they fly through this section and students mis the understanding of key terms like bioaccumulation and the examboard loves to test students scientific knowledge on the concepts covered in this lesson This lesson covers the term competition - students can watch a short clip on intrasepecfic competition terms - predation, mutualistic and parasitism relationships explained and questions to consolidate students learning term bioaccumulation explained independent research task

OCR Gateway Science (Grade 9-1) Specification Suitable for **Year **groups 9 - 11 It summaries the key concepts on B4 to include Ecology, biotic and abiotic factors, interdependance, food chains, carbon, nitrogen and water cycle Triple/separate content not included. This revision resource: Assess students understanding on keywords in B4 and concepts Forms the backbone of their revision Student have always found these posters helpful and use them regularly when answering exam questions stuents found the layouts of the cycles very helpful; to help them memorise the cycles students would work in pair or groups of four to draw the cycles on the desks with washable marker pens. I was also able to move between group and orally check their understanding. This is excellent for a student lead activity and teacher facilitating - great as a learning walk activity
