Distribute hearts to all pupils and they have to find their matching heart. Game 1 is matching names eg. Tu es Barack Obama, trouve Michelle. (Other half = Tu es Michelle). Game 2 is matching places eg. Tu veux visiter New York. (Other half = Tu habites a New York). Game 3 is matching hobbies eg. Tu aimes faire du sport. (Other half = tu es sportif). Game 4 is matching food eg. Tu aimes la cuisine italienne. (Other half = tu aimes la pizza). There are 16 matching pairs (32 halves) in each game but if your class is bigger i have included spare hearts for you to add your own. If your class is smaller simply leave some pairs out. The hearts are backed in colour for differentiation (tell pupils their matching half shares the same background colour.) Or print on in black and white to increase challenge. Make it more romantic by playing French love songs in the background as they circulate and only stop when the music pauses. Or tell them it is like speed dating and they need to find their matching heart before the music stops. Reward pupils for any French interaction you hear as they circulate the room.

A printable dictionary for your pupils to use as a reference but more importantly to add to throughout the year as they study new topics and encounter new words. Each page has a section where I have written common words including nouns, verbs and adjectives and a lined section for pupils to note their own additions. There are also reference pages for the following topics containing short glossaries of the essential words: greetings, days, months, seasons, colours, school equipment. There is a spare page at the back that you could print multiple times should they need more space. I recommend using treasury tags to hold the dictionary pages together. This will allow the pupils the possibility of adding extra sheets and adding revision sheets as they revise the vocabulary. An interactive quiz- excellent starter, plenary or revision tool. The master slide has 12 question numbers to choose from; each question takes them to a multiple choice slide with a choice of 3 answers. If they select the incorrect answer they will be sent to a 'oh non!' slide and can click on a funny 'oh no' sound. They keep going until they get the answer correct. If they select the correct answer they are sent to a 'très bien' slide and the powerpoint returns to the master slide.
