A whitebaord animation video to challenge pupils to translate the role play related sentences that appear on screen before the ‘floating hand’ translates for them. This is to practise rather than introduce the vocabulary. I recommend purchasing this powerpoint https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/gcse-french-role-play-at-the-tourist-office-presentation-and-games-11875982 to accomplany the video if you want to introduce or revise the vocab needed for the tourist office.
20 vocabulary sheets designed for all learners. Use as support for lower attaining pupils throughout the topic, as extra challenge for more able (give them to them ahead of the forthcoming topic) and as revision at the end of a unit.
Excellent support during speaking activities and as an aid during extended writing.
This resource will be added to in the coming week so you can return and download the additional materials.
So far you will get 7 resources in the bundle including a Powerpoint, a booklet, a set of flashcards, 2 speaking activities, 2 follow me games and a board game.

A cute French letter to Father Christmas: pupils simply write their name and age and address and ask Father Christmas for 3 things.
You could provide a list, get them to look up in dictionaries or draw/stick images depending on age group and ability.
To save printing costs (and extend the length of the activity), opt to display the letters on the IWB and pupils copy the model letter, filling in the gaps.
Christmas themed bundle including:
- a PowerPoint with all my usual games and opportunities to practise all four skills
- a Board game (great for the last couple of lessons to avoid the usual ‘design a Christmas card’)
- a letter to Father Christmas- great for younger learners and lower ability groups
- Christmas cards to colour- these fold into cards with French instructions on the back such as ‘colour the ribbon in red’
- a Christmas song to the tune of Jingle Bells- again great for younger pupils and it consolidates numbers and colours
a Christmas gift worksheet
a Christmas themed grammar sheet
An easy activity to set up which will keep pupils engaged and enthused.
Print off the 2 board games plus answer sheets.
Give dice and counters (could be scrap of paper with pupils initials).
Pupils play with answer sheet freeing you up to lead another activity or intervene to support.
2 versions: easy questions and harder questions.
5 excellent resources
- PowerPoint to introduce and practise Easter vocabulary with beautiful graphics
- Colour by instruction Easter card to entertain pupils on last lesson (easy for you yet educational for them)
- Board Game to reinforce learning and inject some competition onto the lesson
- Paper puppet show activity and story
Interactive quiz
Updated Sept 2021 to include new design with up to 5 questions (different versions included with range of questions).
A place card for pupils to complete and color. A great way to get to know their names during half term 1 and for them to get to know the 3 first questions: comment t’appelles-tu, quel age as-tu and ou habites-tu? There is space on the back of the card for them to write their answers so they can always see them.
A great sheet to use in the last week of term to give the pupils something focused to do when you pop on a French film. For those who aren’t entirely engrossed they can answer the questions, add some doodles and decorate or colour the sheet.
It gives a really educational focus to the film lesson (regardless of whether or not it is a TL film).
Also included is a film genres PPT.
If you are using it as part of your media module there are general questions about film and cinema and specific film review questions. They are all accessible and if you would like to add more complex/advanced questions there is a blank template for you to simply add a text boxes with more age/stage appropriate questions.
Amended to correct several mistakes. Please download the corrected versions if you have already purchased.
Then you can email me at betsybelleteachesfrench@hotmail.com and I will send you a free resource by way of apology.
5 resources: Easter PowerPoint, Easter colour by instruction card, puppet story, interactive quiz and Easter Board Game.
All 5 contain the same beautiful images and vocabulary for a series of activities this Easter that your pupils will love. Introduce and practise with the PowerPoint, develop speaking and listening with the board game and consolidate with the Easter cards (could be used as homework).
Credit card sized word clouds- excellent starter activity. Great for revision as well.
Could give out as an extension tool for early finishers. Give them out upon arrival and give them a time frame. At the end of the timeframe pupils go head to head in a 'bidding war'. Each pupil says how many they can translate and have to prove it. The highest bidder goes first- if he can get to his bid he wins, if he can't the next bidder goes and has to get to his highest bid to win.
2 versions of this Near Future Tense board game:
Game 1 is all in the first person Je vais écouter, je vais danser etc.
Game 2 is a range of pronouns Elle va manger, ils vont jouer etc.
Answers for each version are included so pupils can assess each other and work completely independently of the teacher.
Bright and attractive. Educational. Great for collaboration. A fun twist in revision.
Good extension task- why not print them off and stick them in a plastic wallet on the wall for pupils to come and play when finished main activity.
Minimal prep: If you forget to bring dice pupils can play with a coin: move forward 2 spaces for heads, 1 space for tails. They can use a tiny scrap of paper for a counter.
All the vocabulary you need on one A4 page for teaching he time and time expressions: use it as a learning mat, a homework sheet, a support sheet, an extension sheet, a revision sheet, a classroom poster...endless possibilities.
Also included: numbers mini word clouds activity.
Mini word clouds- excellent starter activity. Great for revision as well.

5 colouring sheets, items in the pictures are labelled in French for pupils to colour accordingly.
2 x Guy Fawkes Scenes, 1 x Bonfire Scene, 2 x Firework Scenes
Interactive Quiz to test pupils on their understanding of greetings and simple questions and answers. Multiple choice answers, if they select the correct answer they are taken to a ‘tres bien’ slide, incorrectly they are taken to an ‘oh non’ slide and given a chance to choose again.
It is great for a whole class quiz (you say the options and they pop hands up), or to out one pupil in the spotlight/hot seat or as a physical tap and go activity where they line up and make their selection then go to the back of the line. You could use a classroom timer to inject extra challenge and competition.
Distribute hearts to all pupils and they have to find their matching heart.
Game 1 is matching names eg. Tu es Barack Obama, trouve Michelle. (Other half = Tu es Michelle).
Game 2 is matching places eg. Tu veux visiter New York. (Other half = Tu habites a New York).
Game 3 is matching hobbies eg. Tu aimes faire du sport. (Other half = tu es sportif).
Game 4 is matching food eg. Tu aimes la cuisine italienne. (Other half = tu aimes la pizza).
There are 16 matching pairs (32 halves) in each game but if your class is bigger i have included spare hearts for you to add your own. If your class is smaller simply leave some pairs out. The hearts are backed in colour for differentiation (tell pupils their matching half shares the same background colour.) Or print on in black and white to increase challenge.
Make it more romantic by playing French love songs in the background as they circulate and only stop when the music pauses. Or tell them it is like speed dating and they need to find their matching heart before the music stops. Reward pupils for any French interaction you hear as they circulate the room.
