It is the night of the Black History Celebrity awards, however a Trophy has gone missing. A celebrity has made off with it in a getaway vehicle to a top-secret location and posted a Selfie on Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok of his or her ill-gotten gains. Students must solve a series of clues, puzzles and challenges using using mathematics, non-verbal reasoning & computing skills (cryptography). Can you solve the mystery? Features well known celebrities such as Chunkz, Kaz, Dina Asher Smith and Anthony Joshua, popular getaway vehicles and the latest mobile that all students will know and love. Designed with KS3 in mind, but may be suitable for KS2 with some guidence. Includes a poewerpoint presentation as well as pdf versions so it can be distributed. Answers and Keys are included. Many of the ciphers were created using https://crypto.interactive-maths.com/ so please check them out for more information and a description of how the ciphers and the cryptography encoding and decoding work. This is a Black Histroy & English Cross Curricular Lesson on Diane Abbott, the first black woman to be elected as an MP. It consits of a page long biography detailing who she is and some of her achievements and contains some articles written about her in the British Press. We have written some quick questions, some comprehension questions based on the text, some discussion points for you to go through with your groups and some extended writing activities which include writing newspaper articles, speeches, interviews, poster designing and diary entries. Answers to the quick questions are on the final page. Suitable for Citizenship, PSHE lessons on rights and responsibilities, democracy and diversity. Desinged for GCSE, but suitable for KS3 also. This resource is ideal for teaching KS2 and KS3 children about how to identify racism including, language, behaviour and the long term effects of racism both in wider society and personally. This resource also encourages children to reflect on their own behaviour and to question whether they have discriminated against someone due to their race. Children will learn what race is, why some people bully others, what to do if you see someone bulled or racially abused. The powepoint is 83 slides long.
