Types of Metal Learning Mat For GCSE
Here’s a learning mat for types of metals.
It might be useful for Product design, Design Technology And Engineering GCSE Lessons. This sheet can be used with my GCSE Design and Technology worksheets. There is also an accompanying Clip available on my Youtube Channel.
GCSE Design & Technology NEA Support Booklet
This is a 12 page support booklet guides students through the first 6 sheets of the GCSE D&T NEA. Using this booklet enables students to prepare for each sheet of section AO1 of the Coursework folio. I find this is very useful to ensure that students are adequately pre-prepared before they access computers especially if computer access is limited. These booklets can be also used to support home learning and preparation for completing NEA sheets. There is also a checklist for sheets 1-6. I have also added an additional blank front sheet if you would like to add your own instructions.

These sheets is about modeling and prototyping. This resource consists of three A3 sheets , with two exam type questions and two sheets of very comprehensive mark schemes which relate to the two questions.
These are exam type questions that relate to designers and how they communicate their ideas to stakeholders such as clients. Although the two questions on this sheet paper similar at first glance they both require completely different answers. students can answer questions and use the mark schemes to mark and amend their answers.

Q2 also relates to the properties of two materials (Bamboo and polypropylene ), It is possible that these type of questions may feature in future exams. The questions also relate to more sustainable products offered by high street retailers. the clip offers a walk though with a clear point that students can stop the clip and answer the question which can be useful for Independent revision.

An A3 poster which takes a look at two examples of what could be considered postmodern design, by designer Philippe Starck. The two products featured are
the Juicy Salif Lemon Squeezer and the Flos Gun Table Lamp.
The descriptions on the sheet are intended to encourage students to consider influences and functionality of both products. This could be printed A3 as a poster or A4 for a handout to acompany a Product Design lesson.

This resource is a longer response type of A level Product Design question, This question is about looking at two contrasting products and comparing them in terms of materials and processes used for manufacture. This question also has links to the work of Philippe Starck and postmodern design.

The manufacture of Iron and steel Home learning resource for GCSE
A complete resource for students to complete a home learning task to understand the process of converting iron ore into steel. With a limited time to cover all areas of the specification for GCSE Design and Technology, Product Design or Engineering, it is useful to set some of the required areas for home learning tasks. This resource contains an A3 working sheet and an additional A4 support sheet which highlights the 5 main stages of the production of steel from iron ore. The home learning task is also supported by a Youtube clip which I created to provide additional support for students. You get;

Create a Scary Space Monster
An A3 worksheet on the topic of computer game design. This sheet would support a lesson in Design and Technology or Art subject areas. This would make an ideal lesson as part of a computer game design project, or as a standalone or cover lesson. The object of the lesson is to design a monster character for a space themed computer game. The student’s are prompted on the sheet to consider the features of the monster that will make the game more interesting and enjoyable to play. There is also a link on the sheet to possible career paths for game design included in the sheet which could promote classroom discussion or be utilised prior to the end of KS3 options.
Industrial production for A level Product Design
A set of seven A4 sheets that cover industrial production, lean manufacturing, and just in time manufacturing. These comprise a mix of exam type questions and scaffolding for note taking. I created these to work with the clips on my Youtube channel. This resource can be used in a Product design lesson in the classroom. Alternatively they could be set as home learning to consolidate the knowledge by providing the students with sheets and embedding the clips from Youtube into a Google classroom.
Plastics Properties of Polymers
Three A3 sheets that covers most aspects of plastics for GCSE Design and Technology. These would also be suitable for GCSE engineering or product design students. These sheets comprise mostly of GCSE style questions and are supported by dedicated clips on my YouTube channel “Mr Ridley’s Design and Technology”. These may also be useful for A level product design students to enable them to revisit the subject of plastics. These sheets would also be useful if you wished to compile your own bespoke exam paper for these subject areas.
Simple to make Warhammer 40k Buildings
These are a set of sheets which give detailed instructions and coloured parts which allow students to manufacture a range of battle damaged Warhammer 40K buildings in a few simple stages. This resource comprises three A3 paper building templates and an A4 sheet of propaganda posters.
These sheets are supported buy a step by step guide to construction which is available to watch on my YouTube channel.
I created these to use with a KS3 Warhammer club but they could be used as a standalone D&T Graphics project perhaps for KS3, there are three building parts to make all of which can be combined to make a 40K cityscape. The three sheets start with a vey basic build progressing to sheet three which is more challenging.

This resource covers GCSE type questions around the subject of the properties of metals
These Metal properties questions are featured in GCSE Design and Technology, Product Design and GCSE Engineering papers, so these worksheets would be suitable for students sitting any one of these. As usual my worksheets are supported by YouTube clips. I have included a question walkthrough for some of the main questions, these walkthroughs allow students to follow a structured approach to dealing with these type of questions. I have also linked a clips describing the main properties of metals

These Metal processes questions are featured in GCSE Design and Technology, Product design and GCSE Engineering papers, so these worksheets would be suitable for students sitting any one of these. As usual my worksheets are supported by YouTube clips. I have included a question walkthrough for some of the main questions, these walkthroughs allow students to follow a structured approach to dealing with these type of questions. I have also linked a subject knowledge clip on poprivieting which is featured on the worksheet.

Exploded Drawing - Draw a clock
This is a drawing exercise for students to create an exploded drawing of clock and mechanism. This resource consists of two A3 drawing sheets. One has a isometric drawing grid, whist one is plain. There is also a further A4 sheet of instructions and keywords to further support learning.
This could be used as a stand alone lesson, as part of a Design and Technology or Engineering scheme of learning. This could also be set as a home learning task by utilising the YouTube clips as step by step tutorial.
