This resource is a fictional comprehension activity for year 2. It tells the traditional tale of Beauty and the Beast and includes 3 differentiated levels. The style and questions are based on the KS1 SATs reading paper. There is a colour and black & white version of each booklet. There are a range of ‘what,’ ‘where,’ ‘why,’ ‘when’ and ‘how’ questions, some multiple choice tick questions and some that require more detailed answers. There are four pages of pictures with short written extracts to read and 3-5 questions per page. The higher ability booklet has 18 questions in total. The middle ability has 15 questions and the lower ability has 13 questions. Answers are included. All of the booklets are in the zip file. PDF file format.

This resource contains 4 comprehension activities on ‘Bonfire Night.’ These cover: The Gunpowder Plot Bonfire Night Food How to build a bonfire Bonfire Night Safety They are suitable for using with year 1 or lower ability year 2. Each comprehension contains a short piece of text with words that can be sounded out. There are three trickier words which have pictures to help the children work out what they say. Each text is followed by 5 simple questions. There is also a PowerPoint included in the pack containing a slide for each text so that you can go through the comprehensions before the children complete them. This is a plan and resources for a beginner’s French lesson to use with KS2. It would be perfect to use as a first French lesson, as it involves children learning the most basic vocabulary. The lesson plan gives details of a group starter, how to teach the ‘greetings’ vocabulary, a whole class game, a speaking and listening activity, writing activity and plenary. It is highly interactive and allows children to practise a range of language skills. There is a PowerPoint which includes an audio version of each French word or phrase to make it easier for anyone to be able to teach the lesson. You can also play the PowerPoint without the audio. 6th February 2018 marked 100 years since women over 30 were given the vote in Britain. This presentation was created to celebrate this historic anniversary but can be used at any time to teach children about the suffragettes and the Bill in Parliament that allowed women to vote. This resource is a 22 slide detailed, editable PowerPoint, perfect for teaching your children about this important topic. The slideshow covers women's rights prior to suffrage, the actions of the suffragettes, the arguments on either side, a detailed look at five particular suffragists, women during the war, the Act in Parliament, women in the 20th century and suffrage around the world. It concludes with some questions for further conversation. It is suitable for using with KS2 children and could be used for an assembly, a filler or a lesson introduction. This resource is a non-fiction comprehension activity for year 2. The theme of the comprehension is ‘living in space’ and the booklet covers what it is like for astronauts living in space stations, including what they eat, how they sleep, how they exercise and what they do in their spare time. It would be perfect for using during ‘World Space Week’ in October, during a space topic or during ‘Science Week.’ The booklets are based on the KS1 SATs reading paper. I have included 3 differentiated levels. There are a range of ‘what,’ ‘where,’ ‘how’ and ‘who’ questions, some multiple choice tick questions and some that require more detailed answers. The activity is also laid out in a similar way to the SATs booklets. There is a title page with helpful words followed by four pages of pictures and short written extracts to read and 4 questions per page. Each differentiated level contains 16 questions in total. There is a colour and black white PDF version of the booklet for each level and answers are also included.

A collection of 3 practice SATs SPaG papers for year 2. All three activities are based on past SPaG papers. Each practice paper contains 18 questions focussing on a range of punctuation and grammar. This includes tenses, sentence types, commas, question marks, full stops, apostrophes, nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. The questions are formatted in the same way as the SATs papers, so the children are asked to circle, tick, fill in the missing gap, match up words and write full sentences. This selection of fully differentiated resources is designed to use with year 2 children in preparation for the SPaG SATs. The activities allow children to practise missing punctuation problems, a topic which came up a number of times in past SPaG papers. The main focus is full stops, question marks and exclamation marks, but each activity is differentiated 3 ways, so the higher ability children will also cover speech marks. There are 3 different activities, all based on the SATs questions: The first activity asks children to add the correct punctuation to the end of a sentence. There are 5 different worksheets. The second activity asks children to tick which punctuation is missing from the end of a sentence. There are 18 questions.
