Victorian Gothic - Jekyll and Hyde

(0)
This is a full Scheme of Work on Victorian Gothic context and the text, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. The unit has been planned for Year 9 and there are 30 lessons in total, full of model answers, scaffolding, dual coding, oracy skills, and many more teaching and learning strategies. This resource can be easily adapted for a range of abilities (I have taught it to set 2 and set 5). I have also attached the MTP as an overview of what to expect. I am currently writing a short scheme on Victorian Ghost Stories, that, if taught straight after this, would easily cover 2 half terms.

Year 9 Poetry Scheme of Work

(0)
This scheme of work explores 5 poems in detail. The lessons use a range of strategies for engaging students in poetry and help them to develop skills in writing PEMAz paragraphs. These link well to the furture GCSE AOs 1 and 2, where there is a clear focus on Point and Evidence (AO1) and Methods and Effects (AO2). There are modelled responses and have incorporated an ‘I do / We do / You do’ approach to developing skills. I have included success criteria and a fully detailed mark scheme. I have taught this to a high and low ability class with equal success. The poems covered are Billy Collins ‘An Introduction to Poetry’, Wilfred Owen ‘Dulce et Decorum est’, John Agard ‘Flag’, Ciaran Carson ‘Belfast Confetti’, and Simon Armitage ‘Out of the Blue’. There is also a writing your own poem lesson that can be delivered over 2 lessons, giving students the opportunity to edit their own work. In addidtion to the lessons I have created a knowledge organiser, homework booklet, and booklet with the key poems. All resources, and the MTP are included in the bundle.
