Lesson focuses on the short and long term effects of cannabis. Plenty of room for heated classroom discussion. Good opportunity to lead on to the fact many people who smoke spliffs often end up smoking full time due to added tobacco to it. Gives a good chance for those 'cool' kids who smoke weed but are against smoking cigs. Chances are they'll end up smoking ciggies when their older!

1 of 5 lessons in a PSHE pack revolving around drugs. These lesson should be aimed at year 11 due to some of the mature content shown in later lessons. Lessons are engaging and give plenty of opportunity for good classroom discussion.

One of the things which bugged me about drugs education in the UK is the lack of focus on the financial impact. This lesson tries to create an engaging scenario where pupils complete a survey to find out their character and then try to assess how much their monthly income is able to cope with a drug habit. Lesson does focus around basic math skills, so you may want to bring some calculators for lower ability pupils.

Lesson 4 of 5 PSHE lessons focusing on drugs. The content of the video is quite mature as it includes swearing and watching people take drugs. I would recommend year 11 only. Lesson focuses on pupils collecting notes whilst watching the video (50 minutes long so may go into next lesson). Pupils will then build up their notes to write a descriptive diary of being a heroin addict. Pupils are encouraged to use English language skills. The documentary is Cold Turkey which was a channel 4 documentary around 15 years ago.

Lesson 5 of 5 which focuses on pupils writing a descriptive account. A mark sheet/check list for quick marking has been created for either pupils to peer assess or teachers to use as a feedback sheet.

A 17 lesson tutor time project, excellent for new tutor groups or anyone looking to fill some time with the classes. Sessions include coming up with their group identity, their own coat of arms and a speech. I've had to put it in a zip file as there were too many files to upload. Can be used for PSHE or any other random subjects.
