There are two lengthy Power Points which will take several lessons to complete. By the end, pupils will be able to understand and successfully form the perfect tense of avoir verbs, both regular and irregular, as well as all être verbs. The Power Points can be used for pupils to create accurate grammar/ resource notes in their books, which they can then refer back to when working individually to form the past tense. On each PowerPoint there are lots of exercises for pupils to complete in order to check comprehension. A comprehensive worksheet accompanies each of the Power Points. There are also three further worksheets with exercises that could be used as class or homework and will indicate the pupils’ ability to understand and form this tense. This is a tried and tested method and will have your students being able to successfully form the perfect tense!

This is a booklet that can be printed for each student and contains approximately 200 general conversation questions. These questions have put together by researching all exam boards specifications and example materials. The questions are in themes are also broken down into sub-themes. Within each set of questions in a sub-theme, they have been classified into tenses so that pupils can be clear of the tense they need to use to answer the relevant question. These can form the basis of regular classroom practice for the speaking exam and if pupils are confident with these questions, they will also be able to answer many of the questions that will form part of the photo card section of the exam. Based on the new specifications of exam boards for French GCSE, I have produced 40 different photo cards, all have 5 questions and are a range of questions to cover both foundation and higher tiers. The cards cover all 3 themes and all sub-themes. The questions are based on information from several exam boards. The assessment criteria for AQA, Edexcel and WJEC are included on the mark schemes document.

For pupils studying the Perfect Tense, this is a whole set of resources based on an exciting murder mystery. It includes, not only the murder mystery, but starter activities, two plenaries, extension documents, lesson plans etc. Pupils work in groups and compete against the other groups to solve the murder first. This set of resources was used for both Ofsted and internally reviews lessons which were rated as 'outstanding'. The objectives are: To enhance thinking skills in order to participate effectively in a team and reflect on learning. To consolidate prior knowledge of the past tense in order to further develop understanding and accuracy.
