This is a booklet that can be printed for each student and contains over 150 general conversation questions. These questions have put together by researching all exam boards specifications and example materials. The questions are in themes are also broken down into sub-themes. Within each set of questions in a sub-theme, they have been classified into tenses so that pupils can be clear of the tense they need to use to answer the relevant question. These can form the basis of regular classroom practice for the speaking exam and if pupils are confident with these questions, they will also be able to answer many of the questions that will form part of the photo card section of the exam.

Based on the new specifications of exam boards for German GCSE, I have produced 40 different photo cards, all have 5 questions. The range of questions covers both foundation and higher tiers. The cards cover all 3 themes and all sub-themes. The questions are based on information/ specifications/ sample materials from several exam boards. They can be used over many lessons for practising this part of the exam and/or as part of mock exams.

This resource introduces students to reflexives verbs in the past perfect tense and gives a step-by-step method of how to form the perfect tense of reflexive verbs. The slides contain grammar notes that students can note in their exercise books and use as a reference for all future work using these verbs. There are a wide range of exercises to complete, as well as a reading comprehension and a writing task. There is a worksheet that accompanies the PowerPoint. There is also a separate worksheet with translation exercises into English and into French. This is a tried and tested method to ensure comprehension and the ability to confidently form the perfect tense with reflexive verbs.

By the end, pupils will be able to understand and successfully form the perfect tense of avoir verbs, both regular and irregular, as well as all être verbs. This pack has two lengthy Power Points that explain in detail how to form the present tense of regular and irregular verbs. The first PowerPoint goes through in detail how to form the present tense of -er, -ir and -re verbs and the slides can be used as grammar notes for pupils to record in their books. Each section has a range of exercises to complete and there are final exercises to complete using all the three types of regular verbs. These exercises include transition exercises, important to start early on, ready for the new GCSE specifications. The irregular verbs PowerPoint follows a very similar format with exercises to complete, translation work and challenges. There are worksheets to accompany each PowerPoint. These presentations of the present tense follow a tried and tested method; ensuring pupils have a clear grasp of this tense.

Each PowerPoint takes you through how to (1) form the future tense with ‘aller’ and (2) form the simple future tense on a step-by-step basis, all grammar notes could be copied into ex books. There are lots of follow on exercises to check comprehension and a reading comprehension in each. These Power Points have been put together after using the grammar notes on which they are based for many years. This is a way of ensuring pupils understand and can easily use these tenses. Each PowerPoint has an accompanying worksheet for all of the exercises.

This is a set of three lengthy PowerPoints that can be used over 2/3 lessons. The first PowerPoint introduces an extensive range of grammatical terms, including pronouns, infinitives, conjugated verbs, articles, intensifiers and many more with lots of examples. There is a plenary/test to check students’ comprehension. The other two PowerPoints have a more in-depth check of understanding with French texts; one for students who have only covered present tense verbs; and the other covering three tenses.

This set of resources is aimed at German students who are going to be introduced to the present tense verb conjugation. There is lesson plan and all resources, including a Powerpoint presentation for entire lesson(s), a detailed lesson plan, worksheets etc needed for one or two lessons, after which time students will be able to conjugate regular present tense verbs and understand all grammar terms used.

For pupils studying the Perfect Tense, this is a whole set of resources based on an exciting murder mystery. It includes, not only the murder mystery, but starter activities, two plenaries, extension documents, lesson plans etc. Pupils work in groups and compete against the other groups to solve the murder first. This set of resources was used for both Ofsted and internally reviews lessons which were rated as 'outstanding'. The objectives are: To enhance thinking skills in order to participate effectively in a team and reflect on learning. To consolidate prior knowledge of the past tense in order to further develop understanding and accuracy.
