Shape Addition
This resource combines children’s knowledge of shapes and the number of sides as well as their addition skills.
Rounding to the nearest hundred
A quick exercise for children to review and practice rounding to the nearest hundred (including word problems)
Rounding to the nearest 10
A quick exercise to allow children to review and practice rounding to the nearest 10 (including using word problems).
I can name and recognise 3d shapes
A full lesson including lesson PowerPoint and recording sheet to meet the objective ‘I can name and recognise common 3D shapes’ including: cube, cuboid, sphere, cone and cylinder.
This lesson discusses properties of 3D shapes, as well as where we might find the shapes in our own environment. The lesson then includes a practical activity which allows the children to find 3d shapes in their own environment, which they can then record on their sheet.
Year 1 Addition and Subtraction word problems
A range of addition and subtraction word problems to support mathematical skills with the use of real world application.
6 subtraction problems
6 addition problems
Colourful word problem cards with the addition of pictures.
Doubling and Halving
This worksheet allows children to see the relationship between doubling and halving, for example: Half of 12 is 6 so double 6 is 12. The last two questions on the worksheet are blank to allow the child to come up with their own questions.
I can compare and classify 2D shapes
A complete lesson including lesson PowerPoint and worksheet to meet the objective: ‘I can compare and classify 2D shapes’.
Supports students understanding of 2D shapes- key vocabulary such as names of shapes, sides, vertices and lines of symmetry.
Shape symmetry
This activity will support children’s understanding of Line Symmetry. Children have to complete the missing half to complete the shape- making sure that it is symmetrical- the same on both sides.
Subtraction Square
Complete the subtraction square- supports children’s understanding of subtraction facts. Fluency practice.
Addition to 10 and 20
Missing number problems, allowing children to practice their number bonds and number facts to 10 and 20
Addition Square
Complete the addition square- supports children’s understanding of addition facts using the numbers 1-10 and then 10-20. Once children have a solid understanding of adding numbers using 1- 10- the biggest sum here would be 10+10, they can then move onto adding numbers 1-20.
Array Matching Cards
A simple activity to support children’s understanding of early multiplication with the use of pictorial representations- arrays. Match the array card to the repeated addition sentence and the multiplication sentence.
Find 1/2 of a shape
An activity to support children’s understanding of recognising a half in different ways. Shade in one half of each of the different shapes.
Find One third of an amount
finding one third of an amount (a number) e.g. 1/3 of 3. We look at how many parts there are altogehter- in this case 3, and share the total amount by this many parts.
Find One half of an amount
Finding one half of an amount (a number) e.g. 1/2 of 6. We look at how many parts there are altogehter- in this case 2, and share the total amount by this many parts.
Identify one more or one less than a given number
provides children with the opportunity to practice identifying one more and one less than a given number.
Sheet one- identify one more or one less than a given number up to 10
Sheet two- identify one more or one less than a given number up to 20
Multiplication fact practice 1-12 x tables
Multiplication fact practice 1-12 times tables.
Includes Multiplication facts for the 1-12 times tables and practice sheets.
Includes a Multiplication Tracker sheet so that you can see the progress your child/ children make with learning their multiplication facts. Write the date in the top row each time you practice the timestables to see the progress. Highlight any mistakes so see gaps in the child’s understanding.
One Hundred Square Activities
This resource contains nine different activities that can be completed using a One Hundred Square, including:
Counting using the One hundred square
Complete the One hundred square
Fill in the missing numbers
Colour in/ circle all of the even numbers
Colour in/ circle all of the odd numbers
One hundred square puzzle
Finding patterns
Counting in multiples
Dice game
All of these different activities will help with the children’s fluency in mathematics.
This product comes with a word document and as well as a pdf document.
These activities have been used with classes of children to support their understanding of numbers from 1-100.
Multiplication Grids (Empty)
Multiplication Grids:
1-5
1-10
1-12
Find 1/4 of a shape
An activity to support children’s understanding of recognising one quarter in different ways. Shade in one quarter of each of the different shapes.
