The poster showcases a total of 24 fantastic poetry-related books - a mix of author collections, anthologies and verse novels! Each book is labelled with the book type, as well as the book’s title and lead author/compiler.
Most books have been published within the past five years, and are diverse, accessible and inclusive. All books are suitable for secondary school students. Those marked ‘YA’ are ideally for students aged 13+ due to content.

This resource is intended to inspire and encourage reading for pleasure for pupils. But also to concrete subject-specific knowledge, technical concepts and vocabulary.

Each book is labelled with a particular mental health condition, which can act as trigger warnings.

Books are also differentiated so there are some high level books for those more able students, as well as accessible texts for weaker readers.

If your class is about to move up to secondary school then check out this perfect resource for you!
This A3 poster features several fiction books, with stories that specifically focus on characters that are about to begin secondary school. Many illustrate some of the challenges they face, as well as some of the positives of such a big change.
It is hoped that students who are about to go to big school will be able to read about these experiences, which may help to alleviate any real anxieties and issues they have in real life.
All books are appropriate for Year 6 students to read, and are a diverse and inclusive collection.
Feel free to pop up in your classroom, or re-size and print out as leaflets to give to students.
