An active session wherein students identify and define the components of sound, elements of music and think critically as to what music is for. Suitable for introduction to Theory & Harmony lessons/units or Listening skills for either practice or technology based music students. Useful knowledge that clarifies a lot of terminology used frequently across most music sessions/courses.

An introductory session that lays out several activities and potential workshops towards the suggested project within the UAL spec for the first 4 units in level 3 Music; ‘Versions’. Includes Assignment Brief with suggested layout for assessment criteria, repertoire for adapting, case study of analysis and task covering assessment for criteria 1. Can also be used as a single session or day/week long project in a Music Techniques/Ensemble Studies/Solo Music Performance type unit.

Introductory lesson to principles of Music Theory including the Ruler of Pitch, accidentals, tones/semitones, Major Scales, treble clef, note names and notation on the stave. Fully spec’d and linked to Unit 27 BTEC or a standalone session introducing basic principles to any music students on any applicable course and/or level for approximately an hour and a half duration. Includes Lesson Plan along with Unit Aims/Objectives, session aims and outcomes, activities, plenary and independent learning. Embedded extras include stretch and challenge, functional maths and equality and diversity opportunities.
