Hello Amazing Fellow Educators! I´m Danicka. I graduated with a teaching specialization in French as an Additional Language from the University of Toronto in June 2022. I am currently an IB French Teacher for the Middle Years and Diploma Programs. I bring extensive experience in teaching French to diverse learners. The activities in this lesson will allow your beginner French students to learn vocabulary related to places in their city or town. They will also learn about prepositions and basic time-of-day expressions. Examples, a vocabulary sheet (Canva vocabulary presentation link pictures and words of the places provided), along with answer keys for each of the activities. The activities in this lesson are aimed towards beginner and lower-ability French students.

This fun and interactive speaking dice game can be used with your beginner French students to help them form simple sentences in French. This can also be adapted with more advanced students in your French class by having them answer the “Pourquoi” part of the question. Materials needed: A pair of dice. Alternatively, students can use virtual dice (available for free on Google if you search up “free dice.”)

This summative evaluation can be used in your DP1 French (niveau moyen = standard level) and niveau supérieur = higher level) classrooms to evaluate your students´ writing skills. This evaluation has been adapted following the theme of “L´organisation sociale” (Social Organisation) as per the DP IB Language B curriculum expectations. The evaluation is based on the movie “Le Comte du Monte Cristo” (2002). Students will need to watch the movie in class before you have them do their summative evaluation on it.
