A presentation on how Parents can become involved in their children’s revision.

A double sided reflection activity to help children reflect (when their mood is right) on incidents which have occurred or events which they could have approached differently. It is a chance for them to reflect and think about their behaviours. This can be useful for children with autism.

This is a supportive tool to help students recognise, show and regulate emotions. They give a language to how the young person is feeling. ‘I am feeling yellow today.’ They also give strategies for trying to overcome their mood as they can be made into a back-to-back flip pad which goes in the students pocket. Two slides have examples of mood scales. However, they need to be individualised to the particular student you are working with (see blank copies). The techniques for overcoming the moods should, ideally, come from the young person with support from the adult. If we write it in their language, they will own the techniques.

This provides scaffolding for students writing witness accounts of incidents around the school or for victim & perpetrator. It helps us know clearly where incidents took place, who witnessed it and includes a reflection part for a student to learn from the incident.

It is something we never get trained in - how do new teachers know how to phone parents? Yet, it is one of the most effective interventions we can do to get students back on track.

This Powerpoint covers a range for risks which children may face over the summer. Part of growing up is not avoiding any risk in life but how to manage it and make the right judgement call – understanding warning signs, what to do if things go wrong, how to avoid potential risks. It covers 7 areas for the Summer Holidays - Getting lost, danger from traffic, bullying from other children, stranger danger (On-line & in person), exposure to alcohol or drugs, water safety & sun burn!

This assembly imagines what the person we most love would say if they saw us cyber bullying. After looking at several scenarios, they person we most love gives us advice. Includes a short video.

4 tutor sessions to get students thinking before Easter! All Easter based problems, facts and fun!

This assembly looks at the dark evenings, the clothes we wear (visibility, bike visibility and how looking and listening can save our lives. It includes an audience participation song at the end which may seem fun/silly but will help the children to remember the key safety message from the assembly.

Road safety (crossing, use of mobile phone, blind bends), bike safety (being visible)and wearing brighter clothes with some short video clips.

The History of Bonfire Night followed by a safety talk on fire and using sparklers. It also has a video from Simon Weston talking about living with burns.

This assembly investigates what makes us the same as human beings and how we must celebrate the different skills and talents we have. It then looks at the different types of bullying and advice to the bully, bystanders and victim. Includes some fun video clips when students enter the assembly hall.

This assembly looks at how Tanni Gray Thompson didn't let her disability stop her achieving Olympic goal. It looks at the theme of determination as well as touching on the need for an inclusive society.

The assembly looks at how Beethoven mastered a skill and faced the huge challenge of losing his hearing. The message is that we have to learn new skills with passion and commitment, we all have barriers to learning and we should listen to classical music (good for revision as well!)
