There is then a Starter in which students have to unscramble the letters to create the numbers. Then the method for writing and reading large numbers is discussed and examples given on the slides. This leads into questions displayed on screen which learners can complete on mini whiteboards. At this point learners look at laminated news headlines placed around the room and answer the questions on the worksheet that accompanies the task There is then a plenary task on election results to complete assess learning. Examples are then shown of how to put numbers in order of size, followed by a differentiated gold, silver bronze question sheet and a plenary question to assess learning Examples of how to find difference between positive and negative numbers are then shown, followed by some questions to test the skills and then an activity that involves learners answering find the difference questions and creating a bar chart. A plenary question assesses learning on this outcome. To assess whole lesson learning there are 3 exam style questions to complete and an Escape the Room activity sheet.
