This lesson requires students to evaluate their definition of poetry and move towards a more holistic idea of different forms of poetry. This powerpoint is a scene by scene reading companion to the play - each lesson directs which scenes to read and some activities to do to engage further with the text.

This lesson introduces rhythm and metre using poems from Dr Seuss, once students become confident in determining metre they have the opportunity to consider how metre can be used to different effect. I use this as an introduction to Shakespeare but it could be used for any poetry study. Includes the lesson powerpoint and accompanying poems.
