Hi, I've been teaching secondary English for nearly 20 years and have experience of OCR, AQA and WJEC GCSEs in Language and Literature. I have also taught GCSE Film Studies. I actually really enjoy creating new resources with a particular focus on creativity and engaging learners as much as I can in an enjoyment of English as well as making progress.

An activity focusing on the language of the prologue and an accompanying powerpoint. Learners are given a list of keywords from the prologue and the prologue itself, and are firstly asked to define them from their own knowledge. Then they watch a video clip of it being read aloud and can change their definition if they want. Thirdly, they look at a modern translation and can alter their definition again. The powerpoint also has further activities based on the prologue, its purpose and effect.

Pictures of the Romeo and Juliet characters from the Baz Luhrrman film. I used them to help learners get to grips with who each character was. They organised the characters into Montagues/Capulets/Neither then glued them in their books in the groups. Underneath the pictures they wrote key details about each character. Could be used as a revision exercise or to explore relationships between characters.
