Year 6 Maths: Operations
This resource has been made using the operations objectives for Year 6 from the 2014 National Curriculum of England:
- Multiply multi-digit numbers up to 4 digits by a two-digit whole number using the formal written method of long multiplication
- Divide numbers up to 4 digits by a two-digit whole number using the formal written method of long division, and interpret remainders as whole number remainders, fractions, or by rounding, as appropriate for the context
- Divide numbers up to 4 digits by a two-digit number using the formal written method of short division where appropriate, interpreting remainders according to the context
- Perform mental calculations, including with mixed operations and large numbers
- Identify common factors, common multiples and prime numbers
- Use their knowledge of the order of operations to carry out calculations involving the four operations
- Solve addition and subtraction multi-step problems in contexts, deciding which operations and methods to use and why
- Solve problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Use estimation to check answers and determine, in context of a problem, an appropriate degree of accuracy
The pack can be used for reinforcement, in Maths centres for review, Morning Maths work, as well as for home learning tasks.
A digital copy of the document is available for editing and sharing over Google Classroom and Seesaw.

Make Working Scientifically more fun with MakeyMakey!
This resource has been designed to use as a way to teach the Working Scientifically objectives apart from the core science objectives.
In the past, I have used the lessons with the class as a way to reinforce the concept of a fair test, as well as different types of variables. The pack has been broken up into objectives for Years 3 and 4.
Using the MakeyMakey gives the children the opportunity to go deeper into concepts, combining them with engineering, design and core science. Children can also create products with the littleBits to present their findings from enquiries and conclusions as a way to show their understanding.

ABOUT THE NOVEL: Growing up in the shadows cast by two world wars, Annabelle has lived a mostly quiet, steady life in her small Pennsylvania town. Until the day new student Betty Glengarry walks into her class. Betty quickly reveals herself to be cruel and manipulative, and while her bullying seems isolated at first, things quickly escalate, and reclusive World War I veteran Toby becomes a target of her attacks. While others have always seen Toby’s strangeness, Annabelle knows only kindness. She will soon need to find the courage to stand as a lone voice of justice as tensions mount.
Brilliantly crafted, Wolf Hollow is a haunting tale of America at a crossroads and a time when one girl’s resilience, strength, and compassion help to illuminate the darkest corners of our history.
