Growth Mindset Reflection & Letter Activity
expatedventuresexpatedventures

Growth Mindset Reflection & Letter Activity

(0)
This is a great introductory, back to school or first week activity for any English or ESL classes, but could be especially useful for Years 4-8. It includes an editable survey, instruction page and an editable example letter. After explaining the importance of refection for a growth mindset, students complete the self-assessment reflection surveys on behaviour and skills. After discussing the SMART goals acronym, read an example target letter and explain that students will write a SMART goal letter to themselves. Collect in the letters when students have finished then hand them out at the end of the year. Students enjoy reading back over their letters and assessing whether they met their goals. Useful for teaching organisation of ideas in a letter format. Teachers could use this as an initial writing diagnostic by collecting in draft letters and returning them with feedback for students to write up neatly, seal in envelopes to be returned at the end of the year. I would love to see your students engaging with this activity in the classroom. Feel free to post pictures and tag me on Instagram. I hope you find the resource useful for you and helpful to your students. You might also enjoy my Edexcel GCSE resources on Chinese Cinderella and Game of Polo with a Headless Goat.
