A series of lesson plans and resources for a unit on balanced arguments, based on nuclear power. This plan takes a Talk 4 Writing approach, using a quality example text that is studied through creating actions and using picture maps. Over four lessons, the students will study the introduction, initial paragraph and contrasting paragraph of a balanced argument about nuclear power and will learn to how to write their own version about solar power. This is an original play script written for Key Stage 2 but could also be used in Key Stage 3. There are speaking parts for at least 25 children, as well as non-speaking parts, but extra speaking roles can easily be added. There are recommendations for suitable songs to go with each scene, although these would need to be bought/downloaded separately. It is based on four modern day school children who go back in time to discover more about life during the war. It includes scenes about evacuation, rationing, the homeguard and other aspects of everyday life.
