Egyptian creation story activity. Print pages 1-4 two pages into one. Pages 1-2 half per student. Pages 3-4 both sides to each student. Give out the word list part first and have students fill it in. Then give them pages 3-4 to fill out their story. Read the 2nd part by guided reading for meaning using 'super 6' strategies. Students then complete the questions to demonstrate their understanding. Akrotiri on ancient Thera (Santorini)

Study of the site of Akrotiri on the ancient island of Thera (modern-day Santorini)is one of the "Site Study" options in Yr 11. Attached are a range of resources including programs, syllabus information and tutorials and activities. A fascinating topic due to the island's cataclysmic destruction by volcano, which makes it an excellent foundation for the Yr 12 core "Cities of Vesuvius". Links also to "Atlantis" myth. Also fascinating because of Thera's contact and probable links with the Minoans and Egypt. Lots of ethical issues too because of the nature of 'restoration' of the site.

Questions to accompany viewing of the movie "The Devil's Arithmetic" which is a Holocaust story that helps students understand why we need to remember- designed for Year 10 History. Free resource, I do not own rights to movie, which is available through the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhDhW2YPsrU at the time of posting this, but changes to this URL are beyond my control (if this happens). I recommend you try and purchase a copy of the movie yourself. It is also currently available on Clickview Online which is an audio-visual resource site for Australian teachers (if your school subscribes).
