A dynamic learning activity that keeps students moving to make learning more fun and interesting as students 'speed-date' information about various aspects of the Industrial Revolution to complete a work sheet. Follow up questions and a modified version for students with literacy learning needs is included. Instructions are on the activity-provided in Word and PDF (because sometimes the layout of word changes from computer to computer).

You be the Teacher Group Work Activity

(0)
Designed for my Year 10 History class but it would be suitable for other high school year groups and other subjects than history (e.g. Science, Geography and English). The idea with this is to get students to engage with topic information in textbooks or other sources and then turn this into a structured lesson. Teacher instructions and lesson planning worksheets are included.

Brain Warmers

(0)
A couple more "brain warmers" to use as a quick pre-lesson engagement and brain warm up activity or a quick study break. These work a treat in getting disengaged students listen and work well as a classroom management tool..very worthwhile in using a few minutes of each lesson for these in my experience as the rest of the lesson goes much more smoothly and learning time is more effective.

The Four Spheres- info,, worksheets & activity

(0)
Four Spheres Tutorial worksheet plus a ‘sentence arrange'. Print pages at the end of the tutorial. This is a kinaesthetic learning & literacy activity that can be used after the students have learned about the "four spheres”. One sheet per student with a word on it. Students stand out the front and work to sort themselves and the words into the right order so that it makes a proper sentence with geographically accurate information. Students without a card can assist by giving advice on the correct order. At the end, students say their word in order to read the completed sentence.

2013 Christmas Quiz

(0)
Adapted to the Australian context and updated to 2013 from a 2012 English context quiz created by TES Australia ( titled "My Christmas Quiz"). Credits and acknowledgements to TES (and I hope that this is okay as I thought it was a great idea, but many of the questions were irrelevant to Australia and outdated). My adaptations took a bit of time, so I thought I'd share the outcome of these changes with others. I have also added answer sheets at the end- might work best in groups and the answer sheets added so that students don't call out answers.

Cold War Incidents K19 and Others

(0)
Worksheet activities relating to events surrounding the Cold War K19 Russian Submarine incident 1961. It can be used in conjunction with the movie "K19 The Widowmaker". An extension option also looks at other Cold War era events. Useful as an end of term activity for students who have learned about the Cold War. Includes historical concepts such as perspectives and interpretation, cause and effect and empathy. A nice extra discussion point at the end for capable students is to debate whether or not this movie is actually sympathetic toward Russian perspective or is in fact much more biased toward the American perspective (consider in view of the points on the sheet).
