KS4/5 - Metalinguistic challenge (starter/plenary)

Students, working in teams and equipped with mini boards need to spot the antonyms and answer (on the mini-boards) the metalinguistic questions. One point for each pair of antonyms spotted and as many bonus points as the stars in each case if the answers to the questions are 100% correct. The teams take turns in calling out the cases. The winning team is the one who scores the most points or completes the first column in the table.

Students are divided into teams and given a mini-board per team. The teacher calls out a case (e.g. 45) and the students, under timed conditions, must make as many words containing the letter cluster in that case as possible (note: one word made up of three clusters = three points). I designed the puzzle in such a way that in several cases one can make up as many as three words containing a given cluster.

Did it with my students after two lessons on direct/indirect object and disjunctive pronouns. Quite challenging if done under time conditions. I also gave the students the effective contributor self-assessment and peer-assessment sheet enclosed.
