This bundle contains 20 lessons for the ‘Crime & Deviance’ section of the new WJEC EDUQAS GCSE Sociology specification. This bundle was updated in March 2020 so that all of the PowerPoints are in the standard format and, consequently, more easy to edit than before.
This 20 lesson bundle was designed for the new WJEC EDUQAS specification (2017 onwards) - we have also released equivalent bundles for AQA Sociology which are available on TES.

This download contains an editable 50+ slide PowerPoint featuring the most important debates relevant to Media Studies classrooms: pitched at KS4/GCSE level. It also contains a ‘randomiser’ slide so that debate topics can be selected randomly.
Debates take an ‘agree or disagree’ format: students are asked to move from one side of the room to the other depending on their response to the statements that appear.
All topics are inspired from AQA GCSE specification though this product is relevant to all teachers of the subject.
This format allows teachers to foster debates and discussions between students, it can be helpful to ask students to justify their reasons and use sensible arguments. Questions you might ask include:
“What is wrong with the other position in your view?”,
“Why did you choose to stand where you’re standing?”,
“Why do you think people disagree so much about this question?”
It is best to encourage students to pick a side rather than float in the middle: but it can also be fun to allow students to change side as the debate progresses, so that students can try to persuade one another to move.
This is a great resource to use at the end of lessons if you have a few minutes left, it can be used as an entire lesson or revision session.

This bundle is for a collection of ‘Philosophy Boxes’ lessons/sessions.
Each session comprises a P4C lesson/session that can be used 2-3 times with the same group.
This download includes 19 out of the 20 sessions, the 20th file is the template (worth £9.99) that allows you to create your own ‘Philosophy Boxes’ sessions.
The Philosophy Boxes Method is a new approach to P4C designed for students in KS1, 2 & 3: it is graphically stimulating, engaging, and fun. This download is also suitable for older students: but the format was designed with younger students in mind.
The aim of Philosophy Boxes is to bring philosophy and critical thinking into every subject at every level: we believe that any subject becomes philosophy when students are asked the right questions and when they think about a topic hard enough and on the deepest (most fundamental) level.
The Philosophy Boxes Method presents students with a set of ‘mystery boxes’, when a student selects one of the boxes they are presented with 1 of 21 discussion/debate activities [that use 1 of 8 different formats].
The presentation has integrated AfL so that teachers can test knowledge at any point in the lesson. There are 10 different AfL slides to choose from.
The design is colourful, animated, fun and engaging: all activities require movement and teachers can decide whether students are expressing their ideas purely verbally or by using post-it notes.
The nature of the design is that it can be used for short sessions (5-10 minutes) or much longer sessions (up to 2 hours!) - it allows for classroom practitioners to be flexible and adaptable. It can, therefore, be used in lessons or as a tutor-time activity.

This is a great metacognition activity to use at the end of your lessons! Download it for free and use it today!
Description:
This straightforward activity should be run at the end of a lesson: it’s a quick activity that encourages students to reflect on metacognitive factors that have helped them to learn or presented obstacles to learning. Students are presented with a question and move around the room to show their response, providing an opportunity for further metacognitive questioning from the teacher.
How To Use:
Simply run the PowerPoint Show at the end of your lesson (when there are 5-10 minutes remaining)
Each slide presents your class with four options: they must move to different corners of the room to indicate their answer!
Once students have moved: it is an ideal opportunity to ask questions that lead them towards insight surrounding their own learning and how they can increase their learning-power in future lessons.

Discussions follow one of four formats, each asking students to move from one side of the room or the other to make their position clear: teachers should then use questioning to foster a debate between students, encouraging them to present reasons for their choice and defend their position.

-“Agree or disagree?” (where students respond to a presented statement about morality of a moral issue)
-“Who do you save?” (where students need to save one of two people/options, and justify the morality of their decision)

This multi-use interactive learning session explores metaphysics, the field of philosophy concerned with the nature of reality, perception, and existence. Metaphysics also explores issues relating to causality (such as the free-will vs determinism debate), the nature of the mind and its relationship to reality, and more specific issues such as time and the nature of mathematical truths.
This session is ideal for teachers who want to explore philosophy with students and might be of particular interest to teachers of science (especially physics); we’ve carefully selected the most significant metaphysical issues and questions so that young learners can engage in fun philosophical discussions and debates.
This session explores topics such as:
The nature of reality
The degree to which we can perceive reality directly
The nature of the mind and its relationship to reality
It outlines and explores different metaphysical views (such as physicalism and idealism) as well as different theories of perception (such as direct realism and indirect realism).
The big question asked in this session is “What is the nature of reality?”. Using a variety of engaging activities students will discuss and debate a wide range of other philosophical questions such as
To what extent can we perceive reality directly?
To what extent is reality an entirely material or physical system?
How can a purely physical world generate minds, consciousness and mental experiences?
Students will also analyse and evaluate an eclectic mix of philosophical claims such as:
“It is impossible to know the true nature of reality”
“Trees have experiences” and
“The mind is not a material object”
This session uses our unique format for philosophy teaching resources and features an integrated menu that allows teachers to select from a variety of starter, main, plenary, assessment and end-of-lesson reflection activities. This is one of a series of lessons designed for AQA GCSE Hinduism, though it is also suitable for KS3 students studying Hindu festivals.
The download contains two lesson options:
1) A video and documentary based approach based around a (rather beautiful, if I do say so myself) A3 Worksheet. [Includes PPT, Worksheet and Lesson Plan]

The focus of this lesson is the Hindu festival specified in the title, similar lessons can be downloaded for different Hindu festivals.
This is the sixteenth in a series of lessons on Hinduism for GCSE level students for the 'Beliefs, Teachings & Practices' section of the course.
It is designed for AQA and OCR specifications but relevant to all GCSE Hinduism Religious Studies teachers .

-A PPT Containing a Full Lesson
-A detailed lesson plan covering: objectives, key-words, differentiation, and lesson timeline

This lesson focuses on Sacred Spaces in Hinduism:
• The nature and importance of sacred places and spaces for Hindu worship:
• Temples
• Shrines
• Sites of pilgrimage
• Outdoors
• Hills and rivers
• The purpose and practice of pilgrimage
• Sites of pilgrimage, including varanasi and the river Ganges, and the purpose of pilgrimage to different sites
• The significance of pilgrimage and practices for Hindus, and their relationship to the different yogas
• The importance of darshan and the different forms it can take in relation to murti, holy people and sites of holy places
• Common and divergent emphases given to the sources of wisdom and authority by different Hindi groups
• Different interpretations and emphases given to sources of wisdom and authority by different Hindu groups
