What do you MEME? (GAME)

(0)
Instructions: Everybody gets a stack of notecards. Get into groups of 6-8. In each group, assign a reader and a scorekeeper. (The reader will rotate each round.) When a photo comes on the screen, quietly write a caption for the picture to create a meme. Fold your notecard and submit it to your reader. After everyone has submitted a caption, the reader reads each caption aloud and selects their favorite one. Go around in your group and guess who wrote the reader’s choice. +1 point to everyone who guesses correctly; +2 points for the writer of the caption if no one guesses! Whoever has most points by the end of the game wins!

In this lesson, students will work with the video/song ‘Jealous Guy’ by John Lennon. Instructions, materials, and links for the lesson are included in the slides! I think it was great to show young learners such a legendary artist like John Lennon since many of my students did not know much about him. Teacher Planner - Digital and Print out (Full Version)

Hi teachers! I’m sharing a PDF with a Teacher Planner that you can use with ANY group and re-use it in ANY year! It’s 23 pages long and you can either edit it digitally using a tablet (I personally use my iPad and GoodNotes) or you can also print it out. I designed it in A4 size (29,7 x 21 cm) using the app Canva. While creating it, I took into account our needs as teachers. In this planner, you’ll find the following sections and sub-sections: About the teacher (picture frame, name, age, a teacher since…, and motto) A year in a nutshell (course, number of students, book, list of months) Monthly lesson plan (course, number of students, book, unit, activities, objectives and assessment) Daily lesson plan (course, number of students, book, topic, warm up, lesson, follow up, materials) Class attendance (list for up to 50 students) Formal Assessment (grading for up to 50 students) Informal Assessment (student, course, checklist and behavioral remarks, strengths, weaknesses and comments) Printables (stickers and important dates templates) I’d highly appreciate it if you could leave a review or sign up in the mailchimp link in my profile to receive free resources every Monday! HAPPY TEACHING!

Enola Holmes on Netflix - Authentic grammar practice

(0)
In these slides, you’ll find authentic and contextualized grammar practice to help students master the present tense (simple and continuous) and past tense (past continuous). The tasks are based on the movie ‘Enola Holmes’ which Netflix launched last September 23 2020. This movie is so good and the perfect excuse to get students to practice grammar in a controlled but purposeful and meaningful way. For each tense, your students will have a grammar explanation and practice activities based on the movie (this is not a comprehension worksheet but the exercises have to do with the movie - that’s why students must watch it to make the tasks more relevant to them). I really hope this product helps your students with grammar!

Job Interviews - Project work

(0)
This task is designed to help students learn the basics of job interviews (mostly aimed at high school students or adults studying Business English). Through its activities, learners will develop their skills and have fun at the same time! The exercises are guided with pictures and it is based on authentic materials. For the final outcome in the project, students will role-play a job interview and the teacher will grade them using the evaluation criteria (also included in the file). This task is ready to use, you just need to download it!

LUCA DISNEY MOVIE WORKSHEET 2021

(0)
Hi everyone! I’ve decided to watch the new Disney movie Luca with a class of young teenagers. This is a beautiful movie that came out during summer of 2021 and it has such a great moral. As there isn’t much material available related to the movie on the Internet, I’ve prepared a comprehension worksheet to work with my students. The activities were designed for students at a pre-intermediate/intermediate level. The worksheet includes: 1- A summary for students to complete with words from a box 2- A set of statements that students will analyze to decide if they are true or false 3- A list of characters that students will use to describe their main qualities 4- A set of questions for oral discussion 5- A game! Hope you find it useful!

Unorthodox on Netflix - Study Guide (episode 1)

(0)
As promised, I’ve designed and worked with the first episode of the series Unorthodox, a really interesting and controversial series which deals with Hasidic communities (orthodox Jewish communities) and gender roles . This set of activities is intended for pre-intermediate students who are not ready to comprehend long stretches of oral discourse. Hope you find it useful as I did. Part 1 “HASIDIC COMMUNITIES THE NEW YORK TIMES READING” to activate background knowledge of the topic. I included an authentic article from the New York Times which is about Hasidic communities and coronavirus. Students complete some reading activities and then focus on vocabulary related to the pandemic and a grammar exercise to summarize the article in which they work with present simple and present continuous. Part 2 "HALF WAY THROUGH THE FIRST EPISODE’’. There are a number of pre, while and post comprehension activities to check understanding of the first half of episode 1. Part 3 ''ROUNDING OFF THE FIRST EPISODE": Same as part 2, this time with more varied activities and a final writing task. BONUS! The aim of this questionnaire is that students are able to describe a scene, to help them with retelling of the PLOT. The questions can guide them to go through and explain the storyline . My students really liked the series and learned a lot about these communities, gender roles and coronavirus!
