Set of Phase 5 Phoneme Frames with pictures
I have created these phoneme frames with pictures to support the phonemes in Phase 5. Children can then work independently using the pictures to work out what spelling is needed. These worksheets were a great introduction to a new sound.
Year 1 Termly Word Reading Assessments
A simple way to assess if children can read the words specified by the new curriculum. There is a scoring system so you can analyse strengths and weaknesses in your cohort and from term to term.
Year 2 Termly Word Reading Assessments
Termly word reading assessment which covers all the different words children should be able to read by the end of Year 2. I did these assessments on a termly basis and scored each area to show strengths and next teaching points across the cohort. Also great to show impact on reading interventions that you may do!
KS1 SPAG Assessments for the whole curriculum year
These SPAG assessments have been designed to be half termly with a score so that you can easily see gaps in children's learning. There are a variety of questions and covers the whole of the year 1 and 2 curriculum. Year 1 have 5 assessments that can start from autumn half term and Year 2 have 4 assessments. Please see the other assessments I have uploaded for other areas of the KS1 curriculum.

Year 1 Keyword Reading Mats
These were used for children to take home with their reading books. Can be adapted to suit individual children's needs. I have also created common exception word bookmarks and other words to read in another bundle e.g suffixes and contractions
KS1 Reading Word Bookmarks linked to new curriculum
This set of bookmarks contains lists of words that children across KS1 need to be able to read. These were ideal for parents so that they understood the expectation for reading and also could be used an assessment tool to see if they could read these words after practising these at home. I have also included a class list tracker that I used to keep track of which bookmarks children had taken home.
Running Record Assessments for Book Bands KS1 and Class Tracker
This is a great resource that I have used for years. I use it to check that children are on the correct book band. These books are from reading schemes such as Bug Club and Collins Big Cat. They do have the old national curriculum levels on them but book bands have not changed since the change of curriculum so still relevant now.
I then track my children on a book band tracker which I have attached to this bundle too.
KS1 Word Reading Assessments
These are used to ensure children can read the range of words across the KS1 curriculum. Year 2 assessments are different each term and you can give a score for each area of the curriculum to identify strengths and weaknesses. I have also created a spelling assessment along the same lines. Please see the other bundle for this.
KS1 Spelling Assessments for the whole year!
These are termly spelling assessments that cover the whole curriculum. You can score each area to see strengths and weaknesses for each child and for the whole class. This is a really informative assessment and I made these after searching for a scheme that produced a straight forward assessment and couldn't find it!

KS1 New Curriculum Guided Reading Resources

I have also included the presentation that I used to present these ideas to my staff at school. The word mats can also be used as an assessment and evidence tool towards to assessment criteria at the end of KS1. I have included some example word mats too. Each group had a set of bookmarks so they knew which skill they were working on in each session.
