This resource includes a song in French about The Great Fire of London to reinforce key vocabulary to be sung to the tune of London’s Burning (this is not a translation), There are also printable flashcards with key vocabulary and a matching exercise.
This unit of work includes opportunities to build skills, vocabulary and grammar for the Edexcel specification. There are opportunities to work on reading aloud, role play, dictation, 130-150 word writing as well as reading and listening for understanding. The Ppt is accompanied by a student workbook in Word, so it is easily adaptable and a separate Word document ti help students assess their own 130-150 word writing. As well as games such as Blockbuster in the presentation there are links to Blooket and other external suggestions for reinforcing vocabulary.
These resources are designed for KS2/3 and include a series of lessons linked to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The first Ppt includes an introduction to the games, some sporting vocabulary and games to reinforce this. There is a separate printable bingo or labelling card to go with it. This is a series of lessons built around the Euro 2024 competition in Germany. It begins with a link to a multilingual song for the championship.It then looks at the countries involved and includes a range of activities around this such as matching, bingo, labelling and reading, the latter using the group matches as stimulus material. As you work through the activities, the countries which are German-speaking are particularly mentioned.
The activities can be extended for students to research a country/team of their choice.
It also includes links to find out more about the cities hosting matches and focuses on listening to a video on Stuttgart to hear and see what that city has to offer. The Ppt is interspersed with Allzeit Statistik quiz questions which could be used as starters, looking at the highest goal scorers, country to have one most, etc. The activities on the slides are accompanied by an activity booklet on Word (so easily adaptable). These Ppts guide students through the relevant chapters of Un Sac de Billes. In fact, the first one begins at the end of Ch3. It includes relevant quotations, maps to show the journey and I have used them with A level students.
This unit of work on Transport is written to align with the new specification and uses vocabulary from the Edexcel specification.
The PowerPoint includes opportunities to broaden and reinforce vocabulary, work on grammar, such as interrogative adjectives, present tense of -er verbs, aller, familiarise students with role plays, practice reading aloud and dictation, as well as working on reading and listening skills.
The workbook includes all the exercises to print or adapt to your needs.
The final slide includes links, including to the vocabulary lists for Foundation and Higher vocabulary on Quizlet and to other sites to further practice skills.
This booklet is wholly adaptable and allows for inclusion of emergency information and meeting points, glossary of useful language (with room to add your own), a section to add experience of jobs encountered where knowledge of a language is useful (thinking Gatsby Benchmark 4), guided diary pages to consider what visits there have been, food, accommodation, use of German (feel free to adapt to your needs) and space to add pictures, tickets, etc, as well as a summary of the ‘best bits’. It is done in Comic Sans as that is what my most recent school prefers, but you can easily change if, like me, you’re not a fan.
