A student friendly lesson powerpoint based on Fibre Optics. A selection of activities (starter, main, plenary) and leveled learning objectives. The content will help students understand the wider topic of the development of new technologies. Based on the Engineering Unit 1 specification but is versatile and be used in Design Technology and other STEM lessons.
Attached are two photographs which show a simple but effective way to demonstrate fibre optics. Using a torch and a piece of clear Acrylic tube it can show how ‘light’ travels through the wire. This can used when showing the Polar Bear hair slide.
A Powerpoint lesson on Bionics and how they have been developed by Biomedical Engineers. A number of activities, starter, You Tube examples and leveled learning objectives. Created for BTEC Engineering Unit 1 using information from the specification however can be used in STEM lessons or Design Technology Lessons.
Learners can begin to understand the wider topic of new technologies.
A student friendly powerpoint covering two lessons on Aerodynamics and Blended Wingbodies based on the BTEC Engineering Unit1 Specification . 2- 3 lessons with a number of activities (starters etc.) which is can be used in Engineering but also other areas of Design Technology and STEM. Road bikes are used as an example to help students relate to the topic.
A student friendly powerpoint including 4-5 lessons covering materials and processes taken directly from the BTEC Engineering Unit 1 specification A number of interesting activities (Starters, pleneries etc) and leveled learning objectives. This can be used for Product Design and is very versatile. Uses superhero (marvel) example to help children relate.
Topics Covered:
Material Classification: Smart, High Performance, Modern and Composite
Uses (Products)
Sectors of Engineering
Manufacturing Processes
Forces
Deformation
This is a student friendly powerpoint with lessons/ instructions and examples for students and teachers to complete Unit 1. The brief is the one that has been issued by WJEC (Re-design a phone charger) However it can be adapted to any brief you wish to set. The key areas covered are:
Understanding the Brief
Market Research
Specification
Design Ideas
3rd Angle
