Students try and find the best match for Elizabeth, looking at their pros and cons, and whether they solve any of the problems that she faced. The First lesson in a SOW intended for a three year GCSE looking at the AQA: America 1920 -1973, students through the main task investigate what America was like at the beginning of the 20th century, what problems they faced, how the government worked, what parts of America believed what and did what. The idea of this lesson is to introduce them to some key terms that will come up and give them a basic understanding. There is a GCSE question included with sentence starters for the less able and challenge tasks to stretch the top end. There is also a model answer for students to evaluate as a class or on their own. There is also a Homework activity include to get students to independently research a state in the 1920’s.

A lesson that looks at the Great Depression and how it impacted America, students look at how it affected the city and countryside, can be done in groups, pairs or solo. The lesson forms part of a SOW for AQA America opportunity and inequality 1920 - 1073. The lesson includes a GCSE question and an interpretation question, there are sentence starters for each question for students who need it and challenge tasks to stretch and challenge the top end of students.

These two lessons form part of a SOW for the AQA topic America 1920 - 73 Opportunity and inequality. Two lessons that look at immigration in the USA, the first lesson gets students to investigate the causes of immigration, what it looked like, who immigrated to the US and how the government responded to it. The second lesson looks at the experiences of the immigrants in America. Both lessons have a GCSE exam question, one essay styled and the other interpretation. Both come with sentence starters as well as challenge tasks to stretch the most able.

A lesson for GCSE AQA Health and the people SOW. The lesson gives an overview for medieval medicine. Students look at beliefs and treatments for diseases in the middle ages, as well as medical practitioners and how they observed medicine. Students complete a main task, recap activities, and an essay question. Lesson includes challenge tasks to stretch and challenge high ability and a writing frame for essay questions.

This lesson forms part of a SOW for AQA Health and the people. The lesson looks at public health in the middle ages and compares public health in medieval towns with monasteries. The lesson includes tasks, exam question, challenge tasks and sentence starters for exam questions. There is a homework task as well.

A year 7 lesson that looks at how useful a source can be. It focuses on one source and builds upon the previous Boudicca lesson. Students can work through it as a class or on their own depending on their ability. It culminates in a GCSE styled question with a writing frame to help students.

Aimed at Year 8: This lesson is an interactive lesson that gets students to investigate the Victorian Home. The lesson gets students to choose a room by clicking on parts of the house and its takes them inside the room with pictures and information. This works work in a computer room where students can make their way through it at their own pace. However, I’ve done it in a normal classroom and its worked just as well. There is a worksheet for them to complete, though many in my class made notes on their own. There is also a writing frame for the question at the end for those that need help with writing.

Instructions Students take it in turns to shoot down key words. Students must define key words if they are correct they can click the bulls-eyes and it will be shot at. Or Students can be timed and see how many can be shot down within a minute. The high scorers name and score can be included in the white boxes.

Students press the spin button and what ever it lands on students have to write down as much as they can remember about that topic. Words can be changed as class learns more. Every time the button is pressed it will land on a different word.

There is two different version for this recap lesson with very different tasks. Choose which one would best fit your class A lesson that recaps the methods William used to keep control, culminating in students answering a GCSE style question about which method was the most important to William’s reign over England. A writing frame is included to help with less able students. Students look at the problems William faced and try and work out which method would have solved it. There are help sheets to prompt students.

This lesson gets students to study how the Domesday Book helped William with controlling the country. Students read through an extract from the Domesday Book and Anglo-Saxon chronicle to work out the impact of the survey. Students have a worksheet to complete (there is a differentiated version). There is also a GCSE styled question with a writing frame to help weaker students.

A lesson aimed at getting students to recap the Korean War, there are multiple board game inspired resources including, frustration, frogger, checkers, snakes and ladders and blockbuster, and battle ship. There is also a timeline for students to complete to consolidate understanding.

A lesson that looks at why Diem lost support and the Vietcong gained support and how this led to a Civil War in south Vietnam. Lesson includes a GCSE essay question and source question with sentence starters to aid writing. The lesson also has challenge tasks to stretch the top end of the class.
