This lesson forms a SOW for AQA America 1920 - 1973 Opportunity and inequality. This lesson looks at the Flint Sit Down Strike and Battle of the Overpass. Students investigate the events and evaluate the new deal and Roosevelt presidency. The lesson includes challenge tasks and sentence starters. This lesson works well following an evaluation of the New Deal to add extra depth to their understanding, it also good to draw parallels with Hoover and the Bonus March.

This includes a Takeaway Homework, two interactive Plenary activities, one is a plenary battle where students are divided as a class and compete to answer questions to defeat the opponent. The other is a potions themed plenary, students have to avoid drinking deadly potions. There is also a magic inspired connectives word mat. All the PowerPoints have animation and sound effects to engage students.

A lesson that looks at the tactics of the Vietcong and evaluates their effectiveness against the USA. Students can choose to complete a worksheet or write a report using the info back. I like to put all the info in a brown envelope and stick the case file sticker to really make it a bit cheesy. Students then complete GCSE questions which have writing frames to aid lower ability. There are challenge tasks to stretch the top end.

This lesson looks at the interpretations of Saladin, was he a cruel villain or a brilliant leader. Students read through the facts on the board or you can print of the sheet. Students then sort the information into a Venn diagram or they colour the sheet in. Students then use this information to have a go at answer 3 GCSE styled source questions. There are sentence starters included for each of the questions.
