jac42jac42

German present tense verbs worksheet

(0)
A worksheet with 20 German sentences, each showing only the infinitive of the verb needed. Common regular and irregular verbs are included (wohnen, spielen, gehen, haben, sein). Pupils write the correct spelling of the verbs to match the person/subject shown, and can also translate the sentences into English. A good homework idea, as Google Translate won't help that easily! This is meant for beginners, as each verb is used several times to aid reinforcement. Document has two copies, to fit on one page of A4. Answers provided on second page.

Number of points for each answer is shown in brackets. Answers are provided on page 2. Save on photocopying: two copies of the worksheet fit on one page of A4. Extend this task by asking pupils to write their own character description and setting questions for another pupil to answer.

jac42jac42

worksheet to practise German modal verbs

(0)
A worksheet with a straightforward task to insert the given modal verb in the short simple sentences (present tense). The modal verb is given in the infinitive, so pupils must first conjugate it, then put it in the correct position in the sentence. They will also have to remember to send the other verb to the end and change it to its infinitive. They are asked to translate their sentences into English. There are 6 modal verbs in the present tense, plus future conditional of mögen, with 3 sentences to complete for each verb. Answers provided on page 2.

jac42jac42

French worksheet about daily routine in the perfect tense

(0)
There are 4 pages with this resource: page 1 is a set of sentences in the perfect tense which are used throughout the resource. You could use them as a matching activity (you say the English, pupils find the French) or a translation task. Page 2 is a gap-fill with the past participles missing: the sentences run in order from morning to bedtime, pupils choose the correct past participle from the box beneath. Page 3 has the answers to the gap-fill, but can also be used as an ordering task (chop up or shuffle first!). Page 4 has guidance for pupils to prepare their own sentences about their daily routine in the past tense.

(0)
A pair of French worksheets to help pupils practise using qui and que. The easier version has matching tasks: match the sentences to the pictures and match the starts and ends of sentences. The harder version has explanatory notes then a gap-filling task where pupils choose between qui or que. This leads to an open-ended task where pupils complete the sentences with their own ideas.
French worksheet about adjectives
jac42jac42

French worksheet about adjectives

(0)
A worksheet containing a set of tasks to use adjectival agreement: starts with a grammar summary in English, needing some gaps filling in by pupils. Then a table showing irregular spellings of some adjectives (m/f/mpl/fpl) which just needs the English adding. Next is a card sorting task, to spot m/f/mpl/fpl. Finally there is a translation task into French of short sentences. Card sort materials easily photocopiable - two on a page of A4.
German present tense verbs worksheet
jac42jac42

German present tense verbs worksheet

(0)
This worksheet is a structured and fairly simple way to practise using German verbs in the present tense. Spielen is written out in full as a guide, then there are 3 tasks. First pupils just choose the correct spelling of spielen from the list above, to complete the 10 sentences. Then there are 12 sentences in German with a gap to complete with the correct spelling of the verb which is given in the infinitive each time. Finally there are 10 sentences in German for pupils to complete with the correct spelling of some strong verbs (which may change their vowel). Again, the infinitives are given. Pupils are also asked to translate all the sentences into English. Answers provided on page 2.

French card sort and sentence builder with past/present/future

This resource is in two parts: a set of cards suitable for pairwork where pupils have to sort the time markers and verbs (in the first person) into past, present and future tenses. The second part is a visual resource highlighting some of the same phrases, grouped together in tenses, with vocab provided beneath to complete the sentences. By building up sentences from the cards, pupils are encouraged to create sentences of their own choice from the vocab provided. As an extension, pupils could be encouraged to add their own details.

Foundation GCSE French role plays NEW SPEC
jac42jac42

Foundation GCSE French role plays NEW SPEC

(0)
A set of 9 Foundation role plays covering all GCSE themes. I’ve kept them very similar in structure to the sample assessment materials from all 3 major exam boards. Each role play has an unprepared element, a question to ask, an opinion and a past tense. I’ve made up teacher’s prompts as well. The 9 role plays fit on 2 sides of A4, so you could give your pupils the whole lot at once if you like. The teacher’s prompts follow on the last 2 pages and include reminders of the pupil’s role to save flicking between two sheets.

Secondly, a worksheet with a grammar task to match perfect tense phrases to the infinitives & English, followed by a reading comprehension.
