This is a 26 slide power point covering the New AQA specification for exams from 2018 onwards. It covers all of the 4.1 Cell Biology specification (4.1.1.1 to 4.1.1.5) I have covered eukaryotes, prokaryotes, animal cells, plant cells, specialised cells, cell differentiation, and microscopy. I have explained about magnification calculations and have covered all aspects of this stage of the specification. Label an animal and plant cell work sheet. Assessment sheet for cells. Hope it is beneficial to other teachers having to juggle 2 different specs for yr9/10 and the old spec for yr 11.

This power point was made for my double award/foundation students to try and explain as concisely as possible about drug testing procedures and why they are important. It starts by telling the story of thalidomide and then goes into why it led to better testing conditions, what they are and the procedures for human testing, using placebos and blind trials. Worksheets for consolidation. Hope it is helpful to other teachers.

This power point contains the key information about the discovery and uses of penicillin, digitalis and aspirin. The worksheets attached can be used alongside the power point and are good for low ability / SEN students. The power point cards can be printed out and given to more able students to make a sheet about these 3 medicines, or can just be used for revision, starters or plenary activities. These 14 work sheets cover the following part of the F215 OCR Biology A2 syllabus. The sheets can be used as starters, plenary at the end of the unit or for revision purposes. The sheets cover the following: Biofermenter structure and uses Batch and continuous processes Primary and Secondary metabolites (Insulin and penicillin included) Typical microorganism growth curve with diagrams and students to fill in phases. Finishes with enzymes and enzyme immobilisation techniques. Artificial selection (modern cow and modern wheat) Cloning in animals and plants (runners, root suckers (elm trees), bulbs, tubers, cuttings, grafting, tissue culture, finishing with reproductive and non-reproductive cloning of animals (nuclear transfer / embryo splitting) I used this with some struggling students and they loved them.
