I teach English Literature in the Seychelles and so follow the Cambridge specifications for iGCSE and A-level. I like to chose texts which are a little different for my students, and often this means there are initially very few pre-made resources available online. I try to focus on helping students memorise key quotes and internalise writing structures where possible; thus quotes sheets, 20 in 10s and example essay responses feature very highly in my resources.

This lesson was designed for the Cambridge iGCSE specification but could easily be adapted for other stages and syllabuses. The lesson is an introduction to Willer Cather's 'My Antonia' and focuses on the context of the novel, including Westward Expansion, the Frontier, the American Dream and immigration. The lesson is interactive in discussion with several sound and video clips and also includes differentiation.
